I went to pixi foto today with a budget of about £100...ended up spending £180 and now wondering how the hell it happened! Am happy with most of the photos but dd started screaming as soon as she was set down was really not expecting that as she normally loves attention!  got lots of photos for the money, just wondering how where they are all going to go! i went to a permanent studio in my local mothercare as I didnt fancy having half the stopping centre staring at us.

    Hey,

I was looking for a photographer last year and came across this website:

www.shelllivewire.co.uk < its full of budding young entrapenures (cant spell lol) that need to build their portfolio up to become a recognised photographer and well alot of other things. You can haggle on the price etc.

You''ll get a much friendlier, much less pressured service from a local independent photographer. Olan Mills and Venture and the like aren't "photographers" - they are just big-money making businesses.

Hi, I've used pixi foto in the past, and although they usually just have stands and mobile studios in shops (might be a bit tight if theres lots of you!) my local mothercare has just opened a permenant pixi foto studio inside the store - might be worth checking them out to see if theres anything near you

olan mills are still about. they re-opened under new management.  they still do offers like £10 for a free sitting and its now a 12x14 print, however i notice in the small print the free print only applies to your first pose (it never used to u could choose your free one) and i have no idea what their prices are like for more pics since they reopened. worth maybe giving them a ring though.

Try an independent photographer from the phone book or maybe even google it.

I would agree with not going to venture.  My brother and sil went about 2 1/2 years ago and they are still paying for it on credit as it is so expensive.  It's a shame Olan Mills arn't still about as they were a bit more reasonible.

Have a look in your yellow pages, there are loads of professional photographers out there. My best mate does them, she has a studio where she does the family ones, her website is below but it depends where in the country you are..............

i was hoping someone might be able to help me.

it is my fil 60th in november and we'd like to do a family potrait thingy, there is 11 of us and i have no idea where to start looking.

"venture" were in our town centre today with what i thought was a good offer til i looked on their website. £25.00 for a voucher worth £145 it only gets you a 7" x 5" photo.

we would ideally like something where we can all get a copy as well
