My DD's wouldn't be here - but congratulations on having a wonderful easy birth - give yourself a gold star and a big pat on the back.

My terrible 36hr and 24hr labours where purely down to me being rubbish at birthing babies - nowt to do with a shíte pelvis and babies who get stuck - no not at all.

completely agree with loopy. it's every woman's choice to have her baby how she chooses. if c-sections were so bad, doctors wouldn't allow them to be elective.

anyway, there are loads of celebs who don't have c-sections, just as there are non-celebs who do! why s*** 'celebs' off as a whole. no-one knows their reasons for it and whther they are valid or not.

I had to have an emergency c section with dd1 and really felt as though I had missed out by not giving birth naturally. When I was pregnant with dd2 I was so happy when they said that I could try for natural but after 4 days & nights of stop/start labour and nothing they were doing helping I was desperate for them to do another section as I was so tired. For me the 2nd op & recovery were much better than 1st time round. I would not have opted for it 1st time round unless there was a medical reason for it but as others have said everyone is different and it is a personal choice.

I agree Yibba.  I don't think there is any shame in opting for a C Section but for me, it terrifies me more than natural birth

Good for you with your easy labour! I've had 3 of the buggers but can still understand why some would opt for a c-section!

    why are people so judgemental?!

Why cant you see that some women have horrific experiences doing things the 'natural' way and i dare say that a generation or 2 ago many women on this thread wouldnt be here let alone their babies.

Thank heavens for the option now!

i had a real easy labour,it only lasted a couple of hours and i was only pushing for about 20 minutes,i had no pain relief as i was on the ward as i was supposed to be induced that day but when i got there they did an internal and i was already4cm dilated which i didnt even know,so they kept me up there til i was ready to push him out,so i had  no option to have pain relief or not.

id hate it if i had to have a cesaerean, childbirth is such a natural thing and id hate for that experience to be taken away from me,but if it came down to it and i need an emergency one then id have to.

I had a section as lo was breech. They tried to turn him but e was lazy n refused to move

i feel really cheated  though. even tho it was a planned section i wen into labour early & was in labour from 10pm until 4.45pm the next day yet wen me & my friends talk about labour and i say mine wasnt that bad (it really wasnt) they go yeah well u didnt have a propa 1 thats y.

this annoys me as i was in labour 4 a decent time & was well dialating wen i got into the hosp at 3 in the morn.

I went through labour right up to the point of pushing when the discovered dd was breech so it was in for an emergency c-section.  I had a terrible recovery from the section and had an infection in the wound as well.  I would rather of had a natural birth (obviously couldnt though), I kinda feel robbed as I went through labour right up to the point of pushing only for it to be taken away from me.  Oh I have to admit I had a good labour, painful but good, very quick especially for my first.

Well I have had both a section and a natural birth and I can say that the 'pain' of the section was nothing compared to the horror of DD2's birth and the emotional recovery from it.

SN, DF loves her job but has waited long time for this baby and she said to me that if she could affort it she would stop working completelly and would stay with the baby 24/7 but that  is not possible and she feels bad leaving a 6mths baby in a nursery so it would be worse leaving a 5 mths or even younger if the baby comes late.  (I told her DS was 10 days late and she was panicking)  She plans to work until the very last day.

Having plan the day you are having your baby gives you time to plan lot of things regarding home, shopping, job, everything.  Imagine you leave lot of things for the last minute and baby is early and everything is a mess.

After giving birth to ds naturally my doctor has said i can have an elective cesarean next time, but the thought of either terrifys me so no more babies for me! I didnt really agree with an elective cesarean for non medical reasons but after reading this thread kind of changed my mind.

    How do you know?

If you've only experienced your own pain?

SUZ2006, why did your 'DF' not just go back to work earlier instead of having a c section if it interferred with her work plans so much? You don't have to take 6 months off work. Also...I don't think people opt for emergency sections because 'it hurts too much'.
