c section by choice-sorry not sure if this has been done before.

I can understand being terrified at the prospect of a natural birth as I felt like this during my first pregnancy. However having survived it I would rather have a natural birth that I can hopefully recover from just as quickly as I did first time, than have a c-section.

I was glad in a way though that the decision was made to have a c sec otherwise Daughter wouldnt of survived normal delivery as she was born with a diaphragmatic hernia.

Elective c-section? If thats what they want, and they are prepared to pay for it, then fair enough. Its not like the baby wil be harmed by not having a vaginal delivery.

Lets be honest. Lot of people select c-section to fit with other commitments, yes. So what. Not only celebrities, business women etc.
DF got pregnant and EDD was17/08/08. She studied everything by the millimetre. Coming back to work last week of Feb 09. That was not good as she has an annual exhibition 19-22 Feb so she selected c-section. She's going private so she selected it 2 weeks before EDD to be able to come back to work on time.
I had emergency c-section with DS and I selected c-section with DD. What is the point to wait to see if you can do it naturally and if the pain gets too much go to c-section. Yes, you are 5-6 cm dilated already and then go for c-section. That is ridiculous.
In non of my 2 c-sections I had any problems so I don't find that natural birth is better or worse.

i think its just like any other job really, you gossip about work and stuff, and i worked with some of the best nannies in the business, maybe your above a bit of gossip but most people are'nt.

When i discovered i was pregnant with the 4th i was all for an elective c sec after having a very traumatic experience giving birth with 3rd. Anyways my 4th had to be born c sec as i was breech and had gone into labour and there was a risk that if they tried to turn her she could of got the chord wrapped ound her neck.
So i was rushed of for an emergency c sec and that was the most horrifying day of my life from start to finish. The spinal injection was agony i went blue whilst under and they nearly lost me and then the recovery after was excruciating. I would say if you dont have to have a c sec then go for normal all the way.

yes Kimbo - very right! As with any job I don't think it's responsible to gossip about my employers - it's disrespectful and rude

Maybe some nannies have no ethics but the ones I worked with did

4/7/08 17:27
yeah right!
well i suppose it comes down to each to their own,but ill always have the opinion that naturals best(if possible)when it comes to birth.
but then on the other hand,i chose not to breastfeed my baby,i did it for the first week then decided not to as i wanted my patener to have the chance to be involved with the feeding and so i could get rest, which i know a lot of people would say is lazy!
4/7/08 16:54
I nannied my self and I never divuludged medical information about my employers to other nannies - let alone have it published on the WWW

4/7/08 16:23
After having an induced birth at 40+14 that ended up in a ventose delivery and an emergency c-section (breech) at 37 weeks, I couldnt tell you which I refer or would choose again. I was in pain both times and very scared both times.

i had an emergancy c-section 11 weeks ago and when i get asked how the birth went i feel as though i have to say the emergancy part if not i feel asthough im being judged? there is a stigma attached to having a c-section because there are a growing number of people choosing one for vanity reasons.
4/7/08 15:49
i got one.
no, wait
that was the baby they handed me
the one i would have got whether i had pushed or been cut open.4/7/08 15:48
I was just going to say, I don't remember anyone handing out medals when I was in the labour room!!!
4/7/08 15:45
having a vaginal birth doesnt make you the best you know. just because a vaginal birth was best for you doesnt mean that those who choose to birth by ceasarian are wrong.
as long as baby comes out healthy it shouldnt matter whether it came vaginally, c section or out the ear.
having a vaginal birth does not make you better than anyone else, if you cant understand someones choice thats fine but dont try and belittle it.
4/7/08 15:38
Having had 4 natural births and 1 emergency c section, I would definately choose natural birth! But thats my choice and I think everyone should be free to choose
4/7/08 15:19
i nannied for 4 years and from what ive seen theres no such thing as a nanny who doesnt gossip!its talking shop everyone does it!
4/7/08 14:17
I think it's down to each woman and not anyone elses business to be honest - oh and if I employed a nanny who gosspied about me she'd be out on her ear - how unprofessional.
I am not sure yet if this baby will be a section - but I had a horrible 'natural' birth with my last child and I refuse to go through that again. If the reason for that is biological (which I suspect it is) then a section it will be!
4/7/08 14:14
I wanted a c-section with DD2 as labour with DD1 was horrendous but MW, consultants basically said no and to get on with it
4/7/08 14:11
im having an elective c-section on the 3rd september, what a lazy ass i am

I survived a natural birth too- and at the time would rather have DIED than go through the pain and trauma of it all.
Every experience is different- and who are we as individuals to second guess how somebody else should feel about something as big as giving birth?
