Sorry but why ask for advise about piercing a four year olds ears on debates but say you don't want one? It's obviously a touchy subject and you are going to get adverse comments. Op if you wanna debate about piercing your kids ears (if you even have at all), just say so!

Thats because she asked for them to be done Pat.

Do you not realise that kids should be granted everything they ever ask for bar none, regardless of how impractical and how much pain it will put them through?

    Tsk bad parenting.

"Oh and maybe I am asking cos i dont know how a normal piercing should go about, I dont know whether it was normal to get a build up like that, I think I was 7 when I got my ears pierced  and I cried so much when my mam turned them I just asked her to take them out, I have never had them done since!"

And you still agreed to putting your daughter, at a younger age through this?

    Unfekingbelievable.

Tell you what, get her tongue pierced - it'll take her mind off her ear problem.

if it goes gunky again i would remove them or change the earrings sounds like a reaction, my dd1 was 5 when she had hers done, and dd2 was 7 when she had hers, neither had any problems with theres, i used tcp twice a day, the solution i got twice a day and turned them every few hrs for the 6 weeks, they only ever seemed hard to turn in the mornings for the 1st couple of weeks.

when you come to getting new earrings do not get claires nickle free ones, they are poop i dont know anyone that dont find they irritate the ears

YUK.  Wrong on so many levels in my own personal opinion, but perfectly legal so I shall refrain from lighting my torch and lashing you to a stake.

Just letting you kind, wonderful, caring, compassionate and non-judgemental folks know that my dd woke up this morning and her ears were fine, no more gunk has come from them and they are alot easier to turn.

I guess all that gunk was what had come out of the ear after swelling cause when she pushed the back further on than she should have done.

Mia had hers done last summer for for her 5th bithday, they are basic gold studs and are cleaned everyday, ive had no problems with them at all.

Im not going to try and  justify why they were piecered because Its not really going to make the slightest shread of difference, im going to get shot down anyway.

    so shoot!

Even though i think its that a 5 year old has piercings, i dont want the mite to suffer any more... sooo

put nickel free studs in, and make sure she keeps dirty mits off it for ATLEAST 6 weeks - clean atleast twise a day, and turn them every couple of hours.

i got 18 piercings, my first set i did myself at 12 mother was fuming, lmao

Sounds like a bad reaction, even 4 weeks later. My ear swelled (sp) up the size of a tennis ball cos I did not think after 5 weeks it could be a reaction.

    Guess what? It was.

This was when I was 15, lol, and all I did was have more holes added. lol.

I don't see the problem to be honest.

I was browsing through the Argos catalogue today and saw some smashing Elizabeth Duke earrings which would look lovely on a five year old.
