Is it compulsory to be an arsehole in some professions

My doctor's receptionist are the same. They open at 8am but never seem to answer the phones til half 8. Then you get "what is the appointment about?" i always tell them it's private. Then if you call between 10-11am, you get "is it an emergency, dr is only seeing emergencies". Call me stupid, but if it was a genuine emergency, wouldn't you just go straight to A&E!!8/10/08 22:01
Hmm, i hate that they ask whats wrong. What the hells it to do with them? It surely cant save the GP's any time can it.
Estate agents are usually smarmy arses as well from my experience.

i was in the doctors surgery on Monday at 8am and was greeted by an arsey receptionist who told me "ive been trying to ring you since 7am to tell you we've cancelled your appointment" erm no you haven't what number have you been using "this one" never heard of it! It's nothing like any of my telephone numbers ive ever had...."but its the one on your records deal with it. Next avaliable appointment is 10 days time" But i need .... "no sorry 10 days time" but it's for...."nope no can do do you want this appointment or not?"

My favourite response to the dr's receptionist asking me what's wrong is "If I knew that, I wouldn't need to see a dr!"

yes traders especially junior ones are mostly total t***s but i learnt to give as good as i got
some really do think they are masters of the universe but have always found senior management really nice i guess they have nothing to prove

I know and once they know the whole surgery knows! Like they will annonce " Will the lady suffering from (then your worst ever illness) go to room 4 please" Seriously it's so uncalled for!!!! Ggggrrrr....LOL!!!

Totally agree with the doctors receptionist...at my old doctors they were so rude and so unhelpful....also the people who clamp cars...they are mean!!!!

Agree mm. Also when applying for a job in my doctors surgery as a receptionist I think its crucial that you are moany,moody, unhelpful and hate children

Yes. Cardio-thorassic specialists especially... I had to see one when I was pregnant with Lucas and he was so damn rude and patronising!!! I could quite happily have thrown things at him.
