DS1 - waters went at 38 weeks, in labour for 15 hours, tore had 6 stitches, every drug going and ended up with an epidural, contractions stopped put on oxytocin, baby reacted to to it then got stuck coming out and was delivered by ventous, I was 1 push away from a c-section. baby was 7lb14oz.

DS2 - induced at 39+2 due to gd, from the first pessary going up was in labour 2.45 hours and went from 5cm to baby out in 25 minutes and 2 pushes, he came out that fast his eyes were blood shot for a week as I had polyhydromnios (to much water) they broke when his head came out.  Tore really bad from my perinium (sp) all the way up inside had to have a spinal block and a trip to threatre to be sown back up but had baby with just gas and air.  Baby was 8lb 12oz.

DD1 - was a medical induction at 13+4 weeks due to her having Anencephaly and spina bifida, from the first pessery to baby out was 2.45 hours again, I was told that it may take a couple of attempts to get me into labour but it was my second labour in 11 months and it all happened really quickly.

DD1 - 4hrs 17 mins plus 3 hour 3rd stage as retained placenta and had manual removal. 2lb 1oz baby, 1 stitch when they tore me internally removing placenta. Had diamorphine and spinal for MROP.

DS1 - 3hrs 20 mins, 6lb 5oz baby, labial tear that needed stitches as his hand was next to his face. No pain relief.

DD2 - 2hrs 35 mins, 8lb 3.5oz baby, slight graze to existing labial tear and perineum but no stitches. G&A and v small dose of Meptid.

    DS2 - 1hr 43 mins, 8lb 15oz baby, slight graze to perineum but no stitches. G&A only.

Had growth scans with DD2 but they were more for reassurance than anything as I was constantly freaking that we'd lose her due to losing DD1 just after birth.

My first labour lasted 8hrs, gas and air, an hour of pushing and lucy was born, 10lbs 10oz - no stictes etc but retained placenta had had to be removed manually - so much worse than labour! ended up in theatre with a spinal block, other than that ok. Home next day

Second labour was 5hrs, gas and air again, about 5mins plushing and ben was born, whopping 11lbs 4oz - again no stitches (shockingly!) thankfully placenta came out itself this time, was home in a few hours, so can't really complain - thankfully my babies weren't chubby/fat they were just really long - had to cut the toes out the baby grow for ben so he wouldn't be squashed! was just nice to be able to breathe properly again!

ds1 - waters went, induction, 15 minutes from firt contraction to born, 4lb, no stiches

ds2, waters broke, induction, 32 minutes from frst contraction to born, 6lb11, no stitches

dd, waters broke, natural labour, 47 minutes from first contraction to birth, 7lb11, no stitches.

Each one got longer, and bigger baby, but still, I REALLY cant complain lmao.

first labour 6 and a half hours back to back, very painful, but pethidine helped take the edge off. baby 7,8 and everything fine apart from second degree tear and stitches...

second labour, 46 hours back to back, absolute agony, pethidine, gas and air, birthing ball and back massage and i could feel the pain still. baby was 7, 5, all well again, no tear or stitches.

my second made me decide against having any more it was so bad. im sure if i wound up having another i'd deal with it, but i dont intend on trying for any more after how painful the second labour was.

1st was 'easy' so was 2nd, 3rd/4th twins was fine although footling breech, 5th was bit harder but big baby 10lb all induced, all 'natural' and no stiches with any.....everyone is different though!  My sil has 10 as far as I know 9 were fine but but 9th was a bad labour and she had a few problems pro lapsed cord  etc.

If I was rich and could guarantee all babies came out like my 2nd I'd have a dozen or so!

Beautiful birth, little bit of G&A, lovely lovely experience.

#1 on the other hand, how I wasn't scarred for life and did it all again I'll never know.....!!!!

Lol Toni, good stuff, it totally knocked me out and i have no recollection of giving birth what so ever apart from just after i pushed her out and sat up and i said (and it still makes me want to cry now) 'is it dead?'

That is all i remember and that is why i never ever want to give birth again !!

but they CAN check the size and then its up to you, they really did try and force me to when i didnt want another section. i was told i was risking my babys life by not wanting a c section as she was bound to be 10lb+....muppets! every scan showed she was bog standard on target average!

RBR they strongly advised cos my pelvic floor muscles are rubbish now and im only 27 and dont want to take the chance of being incontinent. they never said anything about monitoring me.

my mw said he would be about 8lb. she measured my bump every week. what a joke.lol

Sorry forgot to say the reason i dont remember it is because of the pethidine (or at least thats what i think it was) which absolutely knocked me out

i had scans at 30 weeks, and then 34 weeks to help determine size (then 36,37,38 weeks, but thats because she kept changing position and as ive had a c section they wouldnt allow me to attempt a breech birth)

I have to agree with sallie anne if my first labour had been any where near as bad as my second then my dd would also have been an only child!!!

DD1 was born in about 2 hours (start to finish)

DD2 i have no idea how long it took at all, i dont remember a thing (which to me is why it was a bad experince)

my poor dp was traumatised. he even wanted the snip. i was off my head on the pethidine so didnt really know what was going off. thank god. i never felt any pain at all.my pelvic floor muscles wouldnt move you know when you tense them well mine didnt . i had to have physio and everything but hes well worth it.

this one might be bigger are they gonna scan you later on to check that baby isnt too big?

you dont HAVE to have a section if/when you have another one. they told me that due to hannah having shoulder dystocia and what with that being dangerous etc they were insistent, but they said they would monitor the size before deciding. hannah was 10lb 1oz, twins were 7lb 2oz and 7lb 5oz so they were adament alice would be massive....and she was only 7lb 15oz!
