Hiya, was just about to tell you about my good friend's daughter who was born with club foot, but it's pretty much very similar to what ;-) Ang has explained.

She had it quite bad, but with the help of wearing the boots with the bar, her foot is in the correct position now and she is just been taking her first few steps this month!!

It was sad to see her restricted by these boots, but the outcome has been amazing. She had to wear them for something like 23 hours a day to begin with (I think) and then gradually down to just overnight.. getting less and less.

hiya thnx for replying. no they didnt say much just that a paediatrician will come to see him as soon as hes born to see how severe it is and what course of action is best to take...  not very helpful really!!!

Hi, my little brother was born with a club foot, he had to wear  special boots when he was first born it had a little white boot on each foot with a metal bar between the two which pulled the club foot into the right postion, when he was slighty older he had just one boot on the club foot which he wore at night this also was to pull the foot round so it would malipulate it into the right postion these didn't hurt him by the way, My brother's foot is pretty much fine now although his club foot is a size smaller than the other. i hope this helps a little it was a log time ago now so things ay have changed since then

sorry babe can't help much but i did see a program on it recently. THey showed u a dr who worked for medicine sans frontier  who had a clinic in africa? and  was a dr here in blackpool i think and he used a system of plastering the foot every week for 5/6 weeks eachtime at a slightly different angle  until after 5/6 weeks the foot is in an almost normal position and the children suffered no pain and no ill effects at all. They did it for a baby born in this country and within this time you could hardly tell the difference between her feet. But they need to start when they're young because the bones are softer. It's called the ponseti method  and u can read about the different treatments on www.clubfoot.co.uk  Hopefully  this will be an option for you. i really wish you and your baby the best of luck with this and hope  all goes well

    shaz xx

I dont have it hun, but I have a friend who has it, I dont know if there is different levels of club foot or whatever, i dont know much about it at all tbh, but the guy I know who has it had the bottom part of his leg amputated, and now has a fake one. It does not effect his life in the slightest. Hes a great person, doing very well for himself. has starred in several TV Dramas on south african tv, so is a minor celeb there (my DH is from south africa, hence the reason i know this guy), and now he is working for production for national geographic, so is currently travelling europe. My point is, no matter how bad your baby has this condition, it wont effect thier life too much wishing you all the best xxxx
