I find that leaning with your hands against a wall standing up and legs stretched out behind you to stretch the muscles before you get into bed helps prevent cramps as does moving your feet/ankles in circular motions to get the blook flowing. That is what it suggested in one of my pregnancy books and it seems to work, haven't had cramp in a while now although saying that it'll probably come back tonight.
Know how you feel it is excruiciating!! (can't spell sorry!)

i have a post from whattoexpect.com and the other day had a post about this.Apparently some women get it and nothin u can do to prevent it,and no dead cert reason - could e pressure from uterus, the extra weight ur carrying, bones weaker etc.If ur concerned go to doc but pretty sure theres nothin hell do.Maybe he might recommend supplements? The best thing to stop it apparently is straightening ur leg out and flexing ur ankle/foot right back towards ur calf....prob not wot u want to hear, but apparently common?!

i doubt its down to lack of salt due to the amount of crisps i much on lol but as i said i haven't had bananas for a couple of weeks so i'll try them and i'll try stretching my calf muscles before i go to bed. thanks for ur help. its good to know i'm not alone

I too suffer from cramp every few weeks and can feel your pain! Try stretching your legs before bed. And if you get cramp soothe with hot wet towels and walk around on it for a bit and stretch your leg up but keep the leg straight. As u suggested bannana's help and it can also be due to a lack of salt. xx

thanks hun i havent had a banana for a couple of weeks so i'll go buy some more this afternoon. i usually wake up wit it then spend 5 minutes jumping round my bedroom in agony! lol. i remember getting it with my last pregnancy too!

Could be a lack of salt, magnesium or calcium - might be worth upping your intake of bananas and milk to help replace.
I suffer occasionally too - but I seem to be able to manage to catch it just before it gets sore and stretch through it.
