I think if you use it for your other kids it is fine to use for baby (as long as good condition) but i wouldnt buy a 2nd hand mattress as you dont know where it has been iyswim!

I didnt know there was an association with cot death tbh!  I thought it was just hygeine etc.

We bought a second hand cotbed but i did not take the mattress as I am getting a new one £60 in Argos for Mamas and Papas deluxe mattress not too bad i thought.

dont know why i decided not to keep mattress there was nothing wrong with it was like new but just something i did without even thinking bout it prob because of the assosiation with cot death wether its true or not i feel better to be safe than sorry and depending what type you want mattresses start quite low prices

How does everyone feel about getting new mattresses. I have my little boys cotbed to use once baby is out of moses basket and everyone keeps telling me different things on whether i should buy a new mattress for it. Some people say use same mattress as it wont be a problem while others are saying every baby needs a new one but when i ask why they say they've heard its related to cot death but not 100%.....
