it really does sound like your picking up the pulse from your placenta hun. You'd still hear the movement sounds cuz the baby takes up lots of space, but you need to be in a specific place to hear the heart.

I agree with pregnantpolo, That sounds like your heartbeat you're hearing. Where do you usually place the doppler when you try? I have a doppler too and usually find the heartbeat really low down just above my bikini line, You can't mistake it from yours when you hear it as it's very fast, many people say it sounds like a train or a gallping horse and is usually around 140 - 160 bpm. You could be hearing your pulse or the placenta. I find the blood going through the placenta sounds like waves in the sea if that makes sense! It can take me quite a while to find the heartbeat too so don't worry, they are still pretty small at this stage and havelots of room to move.

Hi, I don't think this can really be your baby. Are you sure it's not just the placenta you're picking up?
If you're really convinced its bubs then I would call your mw as babies heartrate should be a lot higher than that.
Let me know how you get on xxx

i have a fetal heart doppler which i use at home and my babies heartbeat is very slow. it seems to be around 80 beats per minute whilst mine is around 70 beats per minute. i have checked several times and i am sure that it is the baby i have picked up and not one of my arteries as i can hear the baby moving around.
maybe i am mistaken but i know a fetal heartbeat should be double that of the mother (110-180 beats per minute).
what does this mean? i am due for my 20 week scan next monday and i am seeing my midwife on the 20th october.
any advise would be good. thanks

I personally think all that kind of stuff should be left down to the professionals then that way if you are picking up wrong heart beat or if you cant pick the heart beat up theres no worries, I think maybe you have picked your own heart beat up as at 19/20 weeks even the midwife has trouble picking up the heart beat because there is so much room in the uterus for baby to move around in......I wouldnt worry hun and do yourself a favour, get shot of the doppler.
