My antenatal class was a one day thing aswell, they calle dit parent craft class.  At that appt we were told that we would get a hospital tour as part of the antenatal, i think it was 2-3 weeks after the class.  I have to say, its not very nice being immobile, i'd love to get throught this labour without one as my hossy dont offer mobile epidurals, so if your do its great hun.  I am being induced so have this fear of imense pain from intense contractions and then it going so quick at the end i dont have time for pain relief, i really wanna avoid the "ring of fire" lol.

It does depend on your area but my hospital, midwife has already informed me, do not do hospital visits anymore, haven't done for about 3 years. I have already booked NCT classes though (just - did it today!) starting in January but don't know when the NHS ones are not seeing midwife again for a while.

This is my first baby too (21weeks today!)

I will ask my mw about hospital visit, i have my antenatal class booked but its one long day instead of several sessions so i doubt we will go look then but you never know. Theres a website where you can see what pain relief various hospitals offer and it looks like mine offers mobile epidurals. Im not sure how they can work either, must just numb a small area instead of the whole of the lower half of your body, not sure if it would be as effective as a normal epidural but i don't really want to be immobile so thought it might be a nicer option.xx

I think i was told about antenatal last night at about 26 weeks.  the class was when i was 30 weeks and that included the hospital tour.  Ask your mw hun cuz she'll know about it all.  I had a normal epidural last time, not many hospital offer a mobile epidural yet i dont think.  I find it hard to see how they work, i was totally numb to touch, couldnt feel anything or move.  but i could still feel the pain in my lady bits when being examined and when pushing etc.  it was bearable pain tho which i guess is that main thing.

Hiya, i am expecting my 4th on 25th Feb, i have never been offered the chance 2 look around as i haven't gone 2 antenatal classes. As far as i know u get 2 go 2 the hospital and look around with the antenatal class. U should ask your midwife, esp if there is a choice 2 which 1 u r going 2 use as u might be able 2 go and look around them. I hope i have been helpful ? Good luck everyone and feel free 2 get in touch love jo x x x x

Also im wondering if anyone has had a mobile epidural and what they thought of it.

    Thankyou.xx
