well i went on line and put in "birthing plan checklist" and followed the list of questions on that
ie: Enviroment: ????
Support People present: ????
and for a few thing i was pretty cluless so for example i dont really know how i want baby monotored (i just want whats best) so i wrote "whatever is best for me and baby" and for Episotomy i wrote "only if necessary" also it about what you want but if your like me i've basicaly put what i want but in an emergancy if another option is better there free to do so.

I think we are supposed to write it in our notes, there's a page where we're supposed to sign before we are allowed to write in the notes tho.
I haven't done a plan yet, that will have to be next on my list - after packing our hospital bags.

Do the midwives suggest when to write these? I haven't even thought about it to be honest. This is my first baby and apart from reading books on it wouldn't have a clue what to write!

Thats what I thought re are we meant to actually write in our notes so I might do the same and just write it separately and slip it in my notes. I am in a diff area this time with a diff mw so maybe she will be more interested if I mention that i've done one! Even though she didn't bother reading it the mw's when I was in labour read it and stuck to it so I think if you have preferences for the birth it is worth doing! I haven't signed up for parenting classes this time, I thought about it but since it's my 2nd I didn't know whehter people bothered if they'd had a baby before.
Thanks for that though, I'll do one anyway and see if the mw wants to see it, The one i've got this time is nicer and takes her time so she might be different!

Oh well i could be wrong hun, it was just cause my mw was the one who said i should make my birth plan soon but if she doesn't go over it with me i'm going to mention it at my parentcare day, i dont know if you are attending or have attended of them but it says on my invatation were going to be talking about labour, birth plans and pain relife. I written it all on separate paper and i'll slip it into my note cuse i'm not sure whether to acctualy write it in or not.
I'm a bit clueless though, this is my first, but like you said were all getting different care in different areas. So i would just bring it up when possible.
Sorry i'm not much help

I've sort of done mine, will be using my old one from last time as theres not much i'd change. Just wanted to ask though are the mw's supposed to go through this with you because my last one didn't when I was pg with ds, I remember I told her i'd done a birthplan and she just said ' oh have you ' and didn't ask to see it or anything? I wasn't sure whether to bother this time. There is a page in my green notes which says birth preferences, Is that the bit we're meant to write it in? Sorry if that is a stupid question my notes were different last time!

At last i've made my birth plan, its been bugging me for ages and now i can go over it next week with mw.
Ahhh one less thing to do

Also thats the reason i want to check with mw really, because i dont even know if its okay to put things like "whatevers best" or if you have to be more spucific
