Ben will be with me, he knows exactly what I want and wont be afraid to tell them if I go all doolally!! Ive got my mum as back up (you know what Ben is like!) so will fill her in now. I'll just have to go with the flow I suppose, its just a bit of a shame when you have visions of what it will be like. Healthy baby is more important than my comfort though.

They might try to make you stay on the bed - they did with me when I had a drip in once. I ended up compromising by doing stuff like using beanbags and a birthing ball (wasn't all bad in the end tbh) I think they just like to monitor you more if there is any risk so you may need constant monitoring - I would ask, cos a lot of the time they just keep you strapped to one and it really restricts you.
It's the one thing I am dreading about weds - I know I will be strapped to a monitor and last time they wouldn't let me off it - ended up with a longer labour (at least in my opinion).
The thing i would recommend is to just tell them what you would like and see how you can get as close to that as you can without taking any risks. You CAN monitor a baby closely without being strapped up constantly - they just need to know that you know that, Don't let them bully you so they have less work to do. Do you have someone going with you who can stick up for you and tell them what you want???? Just in case that lovely gas n air makes you talk complete crap!!!!

Yeah I really wanted a water birth so its messed things up. Like you say though best I found out. Will the drip mean I won't be able to walk about at all? Really didnt want to be confined to the bed. I can see why people dont make birth plans now - avoid dissapointment.
Not long for you now!
Are your other lo's excited? -

Morning ladies!!!!
Sorry I wasn't aroung much at the weekend, was trying to spend some quality time with the kids before our new arrival on weds. Sorry Kyle - lo hasn't put in an appearance yet, plenty of contractions tho' .
Just spent time tog doing fun stuff really - they all have different interests so just tried to do something individual for each of them, like baking, gardening, crafting etc. My dad came up yesterday with one of those giant trampolines with the safety net, so spend all yesterday afternoon trying to put the thing up!!!! Still at least it will be somewhere to chuck them if they start getting under my feet (throw them in, zip it up and leave em to it lol!!!)
Amanda - sounds like you had a busy weekend, I think I'm as organised as I'm ever going to be now. Good luck with the scan today hun - hope bubs hasn't grown by epic proportions!!!!! Oh - and I'm sure the slowing down in movement is just lo getting all comfortable and snug. Keep us updated for the week, it'll give us all something to entertain us. And Graham says I can have wii fit too - so may be joining u with that - does it do a multiplayer online like mariokart??????
Kyle - I'm sorry to hear about the strep B hun, but better to find out now and be able to protect your lo at birth. Does this affect your birth plan a lot???? It's quite annoying when you want an active labour and then they stick drips and monitors on you and you can't get off the bed. Water birth will not be poss now tho' hun.
Anyways - I'm having a lazy day today so will be here if you get bored - come and talk to me PLEASE!!!!!!
Take care girls
Di xxx

After my trip to hospital the other day, today I got a letter from the saying Ive got group b strep and will need a intravenous drip from when Im in active labour/when waters break.
I wasnt really worried about much until this, and I suppose that means my water birth is out of the question? Oh and Im getting piles now
Anyway, sorry for the rant so early girls, hope your all keeping well?

I know what you mean - I feel like I've been pregnant forever, but at the same time, it only seems like yesterday that Nana walked through the door and I told him the news!! Seems like I could blink right now and JB will be here!!!
-
27/4/08 22:38
I know, its so exciting. I hope she puts some piccies on, when she gets the time of course! In a way it feels like its taken forever to get to this point but at the same time I cant believe we're actually going to be mumies in a few weeks!

-
27/4/08 22:34
In that case - I'll make time each afternoon to update you on my days activites to wear you out

Di hasn't had a new addition, her hubby just emailed on the Wii to say he'll be on in 10 mins - my OH has permission ot play at 11 when I've finished watching Law and Order!!! Not long now for her though - she's being induced on wednesday isn't she!!
-
27/4/08 22:29
The good thing about a busy week though is that it should go quickly for you. I'll just come on and read what you've been doing each day - should tire me out!!
Do you think Di is just having a busy weekend with her boys? Maybe she's got a new addition? Would be exciting!
-
27/4/08 22:17
Yeah - doesn't feel like it coz we haven't moved and got all the baby stuff out yet in a nursery or anything. But i think we have everything now, just all in boxes and suitcases!! Just need to get nursing bras, think I might go for those next week - they advised 38 weeks.
Been bidding on ebay again for various things for the nursery - thought I'd see if we can get some of it cheap at least, then buy the bedding all new with the vouchers we got!
Sounds like you have a nice relaxing week ahead? I've got a manic one - at the solicitors tomorrow morning, then off for my 38 week scan (early coz of Bank holiday!), Tuesday have antenatal classes, Wednesday goign swimming wiht my friend, Thursday going to reflexology, then on to the new house (fingers crossed!) to wait for the furniture, appliances and BT (must have broadband when we actually move!!), then moving all weekend! In between all that I have to pack up the flat and get the ball rolling with selling the furniture an moving the sale forward for it!!! I'm exhausted just typing all that!

You sound like your almost ready now then Amanda?
Ive wasted yet another day, justify it by telling myself Im not going to get many lazy days once lo is here. Really hope its a nice day tomorrow, could do with some sunshine, it was raining most of the day here.

Not got much planned for this week, mum is taking me for dinner on Wednesday before I see midwife, then Aqua-natal on Friday and thats about it. Maybe a bit of shopping tomorrow? I always end up spending more than I want to though!

Evening ladies!!
Where is everyone? It's soooooooooo quiet on here at the moment? Just got back from Babies R Us after abusing Nanas credit card some more
Got some newborn baby grows, so hopefully we won't lose JB down one when it arrives! Also got all the bedding for the crib and the parm / carrycot as well as some sore boob gel pad things that you can stick in the freezer and some nipple cream - I'm preparing for the pain now! Got MORE nappies and wipes - don't think I should need to buy wipes for the first year now!!! Then went swimming! We were very good, did about 28 lengths, then JB decided it had had enough and starting making all sorts of weird shapes in my belly til we got out!!
Just about to go shower, then have some yummy dinner, then might actually get the chance to go on the Wii fit! On a washathon first though with all the stuff we just got and the swimming stuff - determined to be organised with something?!?!
Hope you're all ok and enjoying the lovely Sunday evening sunshine?!

Afternoon ladies!
Hope eveyrbody's well? Not been on til now as I didn' sleep at all last night - been up most of the night intears with my backache, hips hurting and pelvis feeling like it might snap! Spent most of today in bed resting after being brought breakfast in bed. Got up now and getting ready to hit Toys R Us for essential bedding and some smaller baby gros - packed my labour bag last night and realised the baby gros are all 0-3 months and look huge!! Also need some socks and a hat for lo to come home in. Labour bag is now all packed apart from nursing bras and notes! Just need to shove my newly acquired tankini and nanas shorts in there if they say yes to a water birth - asking tomorrow!
Still a bit concerned about JBs lack of movements - been moving a little bit, but very slowly and not as much as usual, not sur eif it's just run out of space?! Having a scan tomorrow morning anyway, so a bit reluctant to go rushing up to the hospital and sit and wait around for nothing - might feed it some more chocolate and see if that helps

Kylé - pizza was a meatball mayhem one, no pepperoni or cheese in the crust - sounds nice though! Just heating up the leftovers for lunch

Good afternoon everyone! x x x

Mmm was your pizza the one with pepperonni (sp?) and cheese in the crust? Saw it on a advert before and it looked delish!
I actually got out of the flat today, only to get some apples and bannanas , the excitement never ends! Just watching 'what women want' now with some raspberry ripple ice-cream.
I cant believe the amount of dim babies there are, keep having to remind myself we are only in April!

Hey Di!! Delighted is not he word - just hoping it all goes smoothly now! Put ads on all the websites I could think of for the furniture - bored now of doing it!!
Re the Wii Fit - get it!! It's great! Nana kicked me off this afternoon, but I know how ot do this one, so I'll be on there all week in between packing and being on here so I can spank him! He can stick to the Mario Kart! Apparently he has spanked all Grahams records again - very pleased with himself!
So, what did you do for your family weekend? We were just discussing the fact that eveyrbody keeps saying to make the most of our last few dyas together as life as we know it will end soon!!
Just been really naughty and ordered yummy Dominoes pizza!!! I think we deserve it today!

-
26/4/08 18:43
Woohoooo Amanda - that has got to be such a relief for you hun!!!!!
Good luck with all the furniture selling too.
Just been nosying on your thread about wii fitness - so is it good then? I'm thinking about getting it to get rid of the post-baby weight. (I'm steadfastly ignoring the fact that I weigh less than before Igot pg!!!! My weight is all preggy related - honest!!!!!)
Has anyone got anything exciting planned for the rest of the weekend? Me and Graham decided to have a proper family time weekend - it's our last one tog. before the baby comes!!!! I'm soooooo nervous now. Had a panic earlier and thought maybe my waters had gone - but not had anything deff. since so now i'm not so sure.
Maybe I just need to get the tena lady out
