From what i remember you just go some docs to a pg test as standard others dont , they just basiclly pass your details on to mw , does vary from area to area though , i see my mw early on she comes to my house and fills out paperwork etc , My gp makes appointments to see mw at his surgery and then you see the com mw for 16 weeks and 30 weeks bloods . Im going to see gp this week as my dd is 1 in 2 weeks , she was a c section so i want to go for a vbac this time .

When i said they do a test i just meant a preg test to confim but i know not all docs do that they just take ur word for it. As far as i know i just tell the receptionist and she will tell me what to do lol, im gonna sound like a right loser haha

    I have a questionclarebear27

i'm going thurs. as it's my first i don't know what to expect...what test do they do? might be a daft question but they didn't mention taking any sample with me when i rang (when i rang i announced it to the receptionist like it was the news of the century and she was just silent and waited for me to ask about what i had to do confirm it lol!!!). so i was wondering do they do a blood test. i've bought 2 pg books today but it doesn't explain it. sorry for my dumb question ladies

Going thursday as that was the earliest they had. Don't know what she will do as last time I saw a male doc and he said here is the no for the mw you can call them and that was it. So going to see a different one so maybe she will be more use.

I dont actually know what happens cos when i got preg with dd i only took in my sample and she tested it and called me back a few days later or something to say it was pos and what to eat and not to eat etc and i think my details got passed to mw who sorts booking in appt out but to b honest i cant remember! I had a scan at 8 weeks cos i had massive bleed and pains but luckily everything was ok but then u dont get 12 week scan so had to wait then til 20 weeks.

Courtneysmum, good point, nothing was mentioned to me about hosp appt etc! She just said to me that because I had a mmc a couple mths ago that she'd request an early mw appt & scan for me, but that it'd still be around the 7-8wk mark at the earliest.

I found out I was preg for def last Sunday, called up on Mon to make an appointment and got seen on Thurs! They didn't do another test (it's never happened all 3 times I've been preg actually) but she prescribed me my folic acid and completed the form for my maternity exemption card.
