I found with my lo if I gently held her head in place and stroked her for a minute or so she tended to calm down, I think she was a bit impatient like her mum and was like 'where's the milk, god this is hard work, arghh etc'!! -

I'm wondering if you can help me. Ethan is now 7 1/2 weeks old and bf has been relatively easy for us. He has unsettled time about 9-12pm, where he is on and off me every hour or so. He feeds well any other time. The problem is that for about a 1/2 - 1 week now he really struggles staying on me and will scream really bad, it takes dh to console him and put him back to me, it started that it would just be in his unsettled period, but i've noticed he is doing it now whenever. Is there a problem, has anyone else had this problem. Could it be a growth spurt? I asked the hv a while ago and she said it would be waiting for my milk to come out, but there always seems to be loads of it.
Please help, its breaking my heart to see him screaming so much

Have you checked inside his mouth? Could it be sore and perhaps latching on is uncomfortable? Jessica has just had thrush which made her very fussy going onto the breast.
Also, are your breasts very full? Jessica can have problems latching on because I am quite engorged sometimes, I find I have to hand express a little bit off so she can get a good grip of the nipple.
My let down is quite strong too, which can make the start of the feed a bit intermittant if she is choking on the milk.
The best advice is to try and find a local breastfeeding support group so you can be around and speak to other mums in the area. I'm going to mine on Monday, and there is a support worker there who offers great advice.
