Hi, i had this with my last pg as ds had suspected chicken pox and i had to be tested to see if i had had it.  I hadn't and as it turned out my ds didn't actually come down with it either.  Dr said that i would have had to have been kept away from him until scabs had appeared.  Having said that i read on bounty yesterday about chicken pox, and they were saying that the most dangerous time for a pregnant lady to catch chicken pox was between weeks 36 and 40 as they would still be contagious when the baby was born.  Going by all of this and the fact that her scabs have healed i would say you were fine hun x

i havent had it either and neither has lo, so a bit worried if she catches it once she starts nursery in jan, will have no choice BUT to look after her as no one else to help nearby.

Just spoken to NHS direct

and according to them im fine as long as the pox have scabbed over as a child is infectious 2 days before and untill all spots have scabbed over will be ringing her parents tonight to confirm they are all scabbed over

Yeah I spose if she is going back to school? Is there a out of hours number u can call? Or your midwife? Id get a professional medics opinion hun just to be on the safe side

well ive read about it... and according to NHS the person with chicken pox are infectious between 10 & 21 days before they actually have any signs of it and are still infectious until the rash / pox crust over... so maybe ill be safe?? seeing as hers have all healed up too?!?! im quite worried now grrr xxx

hello, yes it is true that chicken pox can be harmful however they are usually the most contagious a week before the spots have even shown. As she now has the spots it should be fine.

Although if it was me I probably wouldn't risk it as I worry about absolutely everything!

all I know is they have cleared up and she's going back to school Monday so if she was still contagious surely the doc wudnt have said she can go back to school?!?!?!

anything to be worried about??

My brothers having a friend over for lunch and afternoon play tomorrow but unfortunately she had chicken pox last week.. although according to her parents they have since cleared up... ive never had chicken pox yet been around them so many times family and ex's children etc so im sure im a carrier but just wanted some advice as really dont want to have to cancel my bro's friend
