when i had my first pregnancy i had bleeding so got a scan at 6 weeks then 12 as normal i had bleeding again at 14.5 weeks so got taken for a scan to discover i hd a miscarriage. when i was pregnant with my son i got a scan at 11 15 then 21 weeks to reassure methat was the consultant who booked them. this time around im gettin my 12 week and 20 weeks fingers crossed no problems. i know some areas only give u a 12 week scan and no 20 surely they are both as important xx

Hi all ,
just got back from my scan and glad to say that everything was great , baby right size (when i had scan at 8 weeks they said it was a bit small !!) and baby was moving around loads , which i think is something to do with the 4 litres of lucazade ive drunk when ive been feeling poorly over the last few days !! So glad everything is okay , theyre not too concerned about my weight loss as long as it doesnt drop much more just need to get my energy back now and get back to "normal" .

Hi ladies ,
just thought id update you on my quest for a 12 week scan !!! I have one tomorrow at 10.30 ! and i didnt have to bend the truth at all because ive been really ill since friday night , sore throat , chest infection (and i have asthma) and constantly being sick !!! Ive only managed keep a bowl of porridge down since friday. Im bit concerned as when the midwife came 2 weeks age i weighed 10stone 3lb and today when i got on the scales its gone down to 9stone 6lb , any other time id be really pleased to have lost that much weight !!! so im going in for a scan 2 mo and they might keep me in on drip !!!! But at least i'll know little ones okay .

that doesnt seem quite right about you not having a 12 week scan because of the fact you have already had a scan i have had one scan already and i am having a second scan next monday im only about 8 weeks pregnant but i have been told i will get a date for my 12 week scan when they have made sure things are ok next week

Demand that you get a 12 week scan. If nothing else they cannot give you an acurate due date before 12 weeks as scanners are not that sensitive when babies are that small. When I was pg the last time I had a 12 week scan and found out I was only 10 weeks so they booked me in for another scan twoweeks later. Some places don't offer a 20 week scan but everone should get a 12 week scan regardless of what they have had before.

that is well out of order id be goin mad if tht were me thy better nt say tht t me otherwise il cause a massive scene...if i were you ad say your gettin severe cramps or say you ad sm blood...cz i bled n thy gt me a scan nxt day bt when thy scanned me i had no blood thy wont no...you av to con system in this world a bit luv dnt let anyone take you for a ride n don't stop till you get what you want thts rediculous tht. hope it wrks out fr you... or you cd av private scan bt you shouldnt av t do tht...it nt your fault tht you ad t av thm scans hun x x x

yeah the first 2 scan si had was when the doctor sent me to hospital with cramps so was nothing to do with my midwife as i hadnt really seen her at that point. She tried to call and arrange my 12 week scan and they just said i wasnt having one till 27th jan(20 weeks ) she asked where she was going to get measurements from that you get at the 12 week scan and they just gave her the length from 8 week scan.???

ive had 3 scans already n im 12 wk n 3 days n am avin scan wen am about 14 weeks...av u seen ur midwife yet? cz my midwife said thm scans i ad were nthin to do wi the 2 scans im having 12 week and 20 week czthy were emergency scans n she didnt arrange them....bt ur 12 n 20 r what the midwife arranges. xx

Hi girls ,
thanks for all your advice , im off work tuesday and wednesday next week and because last timen when i had pains it took the early pregnancy unit 2 days to get me in for a scan im gonna call first thing next tuesday morning and bend the truth slightly to see if they can get me in for a scan. if id been 10 weeks + when they had scanned me i wouldnt be making such a fuss but it is really worrying me which is no good for me or the baby and its only what im were supposed to have at 12 weeks ???

What about your NT screening...by 20 weeks its too late to tell and you will be left with no choices. Surely its illegal and unethical to deny you those tests due to early complications.... Its definately worth shouting about!

I had a scan around 7/8 weks cos of cramping, and im still havin my 12 week =|
thats totally unfair makiung you wait until 20 weeks !!! demand it or jus add a few lil symtoms that anit there is what id do,. dam right rude of them makin u wait for something everyone looks forward too!

Hi, i know how you feel, i had a dating scan at nearly 10 weeks and i have to wait until 20 weeks now. I was a bit annoyed as the baby obviously does alot of growing in those 2 vital weeks! Oh well! Counting down the days!

I know it sound bad but i was thinking along the same lines !! my mid wife did try her hardest , ive got to go back to see my midwife a week on tuesday so im gonna try again to tell her how i feel ! surely it cant be good for baby for me to be worrying as much as iam ?

I think its disgusting that they are making you wait for a 20 week scan
I would demand that they scan me.....they measure lo and check all is well at 12 scan which they cant do at early scans. They take bllods as well that go off to be tested for various illnesses etc
I had an early scan with DS at 6+5 due to bleeding. I still got my 12 and 20 week scan
As PP said, if they wont scan you, say that youve had pains/slight bleeding so they send you for one. You shouldnt have to do this imo

well thats mean, I had an early scan at 7 weeks and still got my 12 week scan as it's the nuchal one and dating so they should really. I would demand one you are in your right to have one after all!

It's normal to feel like this. I personally would beg for a scan before then. I know it sounds bad but maybe say that you've had a little spotting when you've reached 12-13 weeks and they may rush you through for another scan.

Hiya! I know exactly how you feel! I had some bleeding at 6 weeks and had a scan, but only a blob there, so although reassuring that eveything was well then, i can't wait to see the baby!! My midwife origianlly said i would not have another scan til 20 weeks and so i flet the same as you! I think she may have changed her mind at the end of the conversation, but can't remember whether she actually booked me for a 12 week one or not. I am 10 weeks now and have still not heard anthing about a 12 week scan, so I'm thinking i might have to wait until 20 weeks!! What a long wait!! To make matters worse, i've been really poorly for the last two weeks with a tummy bug and then a cold with sinus problems that wont go away so it would be really nice to be reassured that the baby is ok. I might make an appt with my midwife this week and see whether she will book me in for a scan. xx

No hun ya not, its only natual to worry about your baby!! i dont think they shouldnt take that 12wk scan away from u, if any women has pains of any sorts they should be offered a scan to make sure all is well. Id say sumit and make um gve u that 12wk scan!! sarah 11wks 2days xx
Hi ladies ,
just a quick post mainly as im feeling really worried ! It is probably just me being paranoid but anyway .......i had was having really bad pains down one side of my tummy so my doctor sent me to our early pregnancy unit at the hospital who scanned me and said i was approx 5 weeks 4 days (i though i was approx 7 weeks).They told me to come back for another scan in 2 weeks time which was the 4/11 , at this scan they said everything was ok , we saw the heart beat but they said the baby was a bit small and that i was about 8 weeks 2 days .When my midwife came to my house last week to get all my info and take my bloods she rang to make my appointment for my 12 week scan and they said i couldnt have another scan till my 20 week one on the 27th jan !!!! I cant believe ive got to wait 12 weeks altogether between scans , im sure something is going to go wrong and feel left out as i havnt really seen the little one just a blob!!! am i just being paranoid ???
