Gatecrashing from Past Due in Nov, hope u dont mind.

My baby went Back to Back about a week before he was born (and he was very late!) Once I knew he was Back to back I spent ages on the birthing ball either just bopping up and down on it or going round and round. My MW told me sitting on a chair with the chair backwards helps (so your leaning on the back of it with your legs either side if u see what i mean) and getting on all fours and rocking backwards and forwards and round and round.

I did this all the time but it didnt help, (sorry!) but thats not to say it wont for you. I think I have the worlds most awkward baby thats all!!

Everyone has said it, the back pain is unbearable. I had the Tens on which did help in early labour but I found, after about 10 hours, it felt like it was nipping my skin and had to take it off. I was on all 4's early on but as the contractions got longer and stronger I found the birthing ball was much better to sit on. I had my hubby on one side of me and the bed on the other, tens machine was resting on the bed and I had hold of the little button and hubby had hold of the gas and air thing. We got into this fabulous little cycle of when I press the tens machine button it means a contraction is starting and he stuck the gas and air in my mouth!! Fabulous!! The relief from the epidural was amazing though......

I had to have an emergency section in the end, i think they were thinking he'd got stuck as I got to 7cms dilated and stayed there for another couple of hours had tons of hormone and still nothing happened. Think that is something that can happen if they are B2B. hun.

Try not to worry about it too much, what will be will be, just dont be shy asking for pain relief if ur in pain hun. And like all the other girls have said its all worth it when they are out! I vowed never ever EVER again after all of that and me and hubby are discussing when to have a next one now!  Lol!!

Best of luck, i'll be looking out for your birth announcment     x   x

i got a gym ball and tried to lay over it and only sleep on my left (which killed my legs and hips) and still need to move it from right to left but hadn't felt it move around completely so thought it would still be back to back. she said that as i'm only 5'3 there isn't a great deal of room so is why everything felt pressing on my ribs.

i was told by a couple of mws that the baby can turn in labour with the contractions, esp if you are on all fours as gravity helps the baby to lay down. was told not to slouch on the settee or lay back as need to encourage baby to go forward. good luck there is still time and even if it doesn't move now it still can in labour and a few ladies have said that they gave birth naturally without tearing etc so try not to worry.

That's good to know greengirl. Had 38+2 MW appointment today & found baby is well back-to-back. I came home & was quite upset. So have been on all-fours for an hour and am now bobbing on gym ball.

Scared that labour's gonna be long & so so painful, and baby will get distressed. Think am just panicking cos never had a problem with DD so not sure what to expect.

had mw appointment today and my baby has turned! yey! no longer back to back. i'm 39+4 so just wanted to reassure others that there is still time for their babies to turn.

mw said that if waters are still there then during labour it is still possible for baby to turn easy with contractions.

my midwife was like that too hun...adamant i wouldnt go into labour myself.....but iv since transferred to consultant based care and im going in tomorrow to see about an induction (im due on friday)

the midwife led team will let you go as long as possible without inducing you, 13days in some cases and if baby is only not coming due to being back to back, then theres no point in having the struggle for another fortnight...

i'll let you know how i get on tomorrow

how can you time the contractions though...because it is constant , increasing pressure at different times..

i'm 37+4 and my baby is back to back aswell, i've been told by quite a few people that the chances are that he will turn with each contraction, but if not theres always pain relief there. I've been leaning over all sorts to try and turn him, even sitting funny on buses and trains, but i dont think he's moved yet. I can feel his arms and legs gathered right in the middle of my bump making it a funny shape and see every movement he makes as a big lump moving across my belly. I was really scared when they first told me, but i think realising that hundreds of babies are born this way everyday made me calm down... i just hope my tens is as good as what they make out!
