my first dd was a breech delivery, she was breech at 36 weeks but kept moving position

when i went into labour 10 days early it wasn't picked up on the palpatation she was breech so i was sent home when my contractions finally kicked in i went back in to hospital and mw examined me i was 6 cm dilated and they could feel a foot, they started getting me ready for a c-section but dd didn't want to wait..!!!

i has an assisted breech footling delivery luckily she was only 4lb 14oz. my mw said i was only her 2nd breech delivery she had done in 30yrs..??

    good luck lol

    Hey hun..

My baby is too breech. I am 35+1 and I have a midwife appointment today at 9, if she is still breech then they are going to book me in for an ECV. This is what I want because I really don't want a section and I feel like they are taking my rights away from me if they do give me 1 at 39 weeks because my baby could still turn up to 40 weeks.

I know how stressed you feel hun At least you have made a decision about what you are doing to do.

Hi again Tiggy - good for you - hubbie and I had decided against it too if baby had still been breech .. then he turned..

Know the feeling about being the size of a beached whale - I am 39+2 today and still doing my aqua natal - if you can find a class near you - go - it is fab and as it is run by a midwife she can also give you some good positions in the water to help turn baby!!  Good Luck!!

Hi ladies, thank for all your replies.   Well, after a sleepless night and a chat with hubby we've decided against having her turned. We just feel that if she turns out to be in exactly the same position that she has been in all the way through then she's obviously comfy like that so, let her be.  If its as painful/uncomfortable as people have said it can be I dread to think what it might be like for her.....  I dont know, maybe thats not sensible aaarrggghhhh - cant think straight!   However,  I think i have come round the idea that worse case scenario, if it does mean a c-section that is not that bad afterall too.

Star - ds was 2 weeks late and a v v long labour, little monkey turned back to back last minute so it turned out to be quite hard going, I had 5 minutes left to push him out before they intervened but thankfully managed it in the nick of time.  Because of that I am a bit disappointed as I was determined to try and have another go at a natural birth this time around too but at the end of the day little one's safety is the most important.

But still, on the plus side, still scrubbing this floor, bounced on my ball for hours last night, swimming hopefully tomorrow so you just never know - ever hopeful me!  Turning bub vibes to everyone else who needs it too...  Wll let you know what the consultant says this pm, thanks again peeps xxxxx

Hi Emsie - i've read that to get your breech baby's bum out of your pelvis get on your knees and elbows and sway your bum side to side slowly.  The weight of lo's head and gravity should disengage the baby's bum so lo can turn.  You should do this for 20 minutes at a time until you feel the bum slip out.

To turn the baby once disengaged from your pelvis come up onto your hands and knees as this gives the most roomy position for your baby to turn.

    hope that helps.

My baby was breech at my 28 week scan and had his feet engaged, i've managed to un-engaged his feet using the above method, and now he is moving around, although i think he's traverse at the moment (currently 32 weeks)

Oh ps, breech borth is possible as far as i know, but depends on the type of breech you are, ie feet first , bum first etc, but i dont think it is recomended , also if they have midwives experienced in breech births aswell.

Hey hun, i think with your previous history they may leave you a little later for section, if your hoping for natural, was your last early or late? but if not i think 39 weeks is the norm now, wishing your lo turns xxx and i had an ecv with first for me personally it wasnt the best experience, i wouldnt stop tensing my tummy muscles it bloody hurt lol!! but depends i guess on how stubborn your lo is Gl and i hope you get the birth you want xx

    hi tiggy

my baby has been breech for 7 weeks !! she was head down to start and decided to do a somersault  and hasnt moved since, the mw at hospital says she is not likely to move now as bum is planted solidly in pelvis from position she is in. i havent been offered a EVC but have c -sect booked for 11th sept only 3 days before she is due, think cons thought she might move but no such luck.  hope your lo moves for you and totally understand the beached whale thing thats why my MIL took kids swimming instead of me .

Hi, I dont have any past experiance to offer, but we found out last Monday bubs was breech at a growth scan (good job I had one!) I spent a week panicking & loosing sleep over what was going to happen! I eventually got in to see MW today and feel a bit better.....I mentioned that I was worried and she put me right at ease saying that 'coz my bubs is on the big side and backside is firmly engaged s/he might not move on its own. I sais I wasn't keen on an EVC, but she said even if I go and try to have it done I can tell them to stop at any point, even before they start if I chicken out, but at least I know I will have tried. So, Im off on the 1st Sept for a scan to check position & possible EVC. If all else fails, I am comming aroung to the idea of having a section, even though its not what I would have hoped for IYKWIM.

MW said they are likely to take me in for a section (if needed) around 38 weeks. HTH  hun, and fingers crossed for turning babies!

Thanks for replying hun, really helpful   We've got 30ft square of flooring to keep me busy so that might just do it!!! The birthing ball is at the readytoo - I'll sleep on it if I have to!!!  I've been religious at lying/sleeping on my left hand side at night but havent tried the swimming so will give that a shot too - god what a thought, a swimsuit at this stage, will look like a beached whale!

My MIL said today she could still turn at the last minute but I just have this hunch she aint gonna play ball Hey ho - will try everything possible.  The thought of having her turned makes me want to cry, heard it can be v painful but guess it could be better than a c-sect.  ......  Thanks again x

    hi Tiggy

Try not to panic.. although I did too when I found out.. baby no2 for me 2 (ds was also normal) and at 35 weeks - he was breech and stayed there until 38 weeks.. I did the following to try and turn him myself as did want to be turned or a c section:

Wash the kitchen floor (or any floor) on your hands and knees

    Lean over a birthing ball

Swimming (I am sure this is what turned baby) - I got a long float (sausage type thingy) and had it behind my neck and leant forward holding onto float.. I am sure this is what turned him as it is a really good position to be in (and can only be in it in water really).. TRY IT !!

Lying on your left hand side also helps (apparantly)..

Anyway I got checked by midwife every week for 3 weeks and he did turn himself so there still is time - I have heard lots and lots of stories that they can turn just days before your due.. but try not to worry too much (I know easier said than done)..

Let me know how you get on...

Hi ladies, hope we're all ok and coping with the final stretch!!  Another breech question from me or several, sorry if its long!!!  I'm currently 36+4 and all the way though our little one has been breech, this is our second bubs - DS i had normally.

Went to see GP today for check up and he was pretty much sure that she was still breech and so am I due to where I'm getting kicks etc and referred me to hosp to see cons.  So, going in tomorrow.  For some reason I am completely panicking and wondered if anyone could give me any info on their experiences as to what's likely to happen now....  ie if she is breech will they offer to turn her, (what's it like to have done????) or if i have to have a c-sect will they want me to go to 40weeks or will they book me in earlier. Will they wait and see if she turns on her own?  Is there any chance of having her normally???  Guessing thats not an optionas a friend said can be dangerous to bubs.

GP was useless and couldnt tell me anything  Sorry again for all the questions, guess I'm being v impatient as I only have to wait till tomorrow but any info would be really great xx
