Well I posted last Thursday morning (2nd) to say I was going in to be induced at 10am that day. We got to hosp and found out that I was just having a 41 week check and not being induced. Great. BUT I was already contracting whilst sat in waiting room! Consultant checked me and I was 3cm, so he gave me a good sweep and sent me home. Induction was booked too, for Sunday at 10am if nothing had happened.

We went home and had chippy dinner (naughty) to give us lots of energy, as I suspected we would be returning later that day. We came back at about 4.45pm when contractions were about every 5 mins, and got put on monitors. The trace was showing baby deaccelerations after contractions, which they were abit concerned about.

We had a chat with the consultant about waterbirth, and they politely said 'no way' after previous CS. Bit disappointed with that. After further monitoring and decision to break my waters to speed things up, we went to delivery room. On breaking my waters at 8.20pm , they found baby had poo'd so good job they decided to speed it up. I was just using my hypnobirthing CD and music for pain relief at this point. At 9.15pm I was 4cm, they needed to get a blood sample from baby's head, so they put some dodgy equipment inside me and scraped baby for a bit, but that didn't really hurt.

Contractions then started getting more intense and very soon I was in big pain, was offered G&A, and wanted to push at 10.15pm. Didn't know how I could cope with hours more of this! Midwife was abit shocked, and checked me, I was 9cm! Yipee! 10cm at 10.30. The G&A was then taken off me so I could concentrate on pushing. Took me just over an hour longer to get baby out, and episiotomy (welcome relief!) then baby girl flew out, all purple, cord around her neck twice, and pooing for England all over me (nice). Daddy was a star, brilliant support, checking out everything as it happend, cut the cord, had a good cry, then promptly passed out, hitting his head on the baby trolley in the process and rebounding onto the floor! Think watching the cut really sent him over the edge.

Emergency button was pressed and about 10 other midwives came rushing in. Karl had whacked his head and had to be checked over by doctor, but was ok. Our little girl was born at 23.34 on Thursday night, weighed 6lb 11oz.

So Karl came round, had a bit more crying, I got sown up and all calmed down. It was nice to sit the afterwards, going over it all and being so happy with how it all happened.

We thought it was going to be a boy so were stuck for girls names, only just had a chat this evening to choose one. Everyone moaning at us for the last 3 days for not naming her! She's called Nyree, another Maori name like her sisters, it means Family, as she completes ours.
