Midwife said that to me, but i've got 5 kids, oldest nearly 19 and i'm still making up and cooling his feeds before i go to bed, my brain would be too scrambled if he needed a nightfeed and i had to make it, i'd end up giving him cool water! Lol.

i just had to go and read the tin to see if it was true about not making up feeds in advanced when did they bring this new rule in?!?!?!?
when archie was born as long as the feeds was refridgerated and used between 24 hrs then it was fine otherwise the milk goes off
why have they decided that this is wrong as my sister and mother done it the same way.
all these new rules drive me mad every few years they change and make new mums worry like what position babies should sleep. i was put on my front. my midwife told me to put archie on hes side then a few mths later they said that babies should only be put on there backs lol

ok im confused now since when an you not make the feeds and put them in the fridge, is this a new rule they have brought out.
well with archie i made feeds up and put them inthe fridge hes now 2 1/2 and hes had no problems but with lillie i make the bottles up with just water and add powder when needed its easier for when i go out and night feeds as i dont need to refridgerate
and as for the infacol archie was a very windy baby and would never bring hes wind up the state i used to get myself into trying to wind him panicing he would be ill and get a belly ache, when he was a week old i discovered infacol and my god what a life saver he had it with every bottle from then on till he could burp himself and it didnt and hasnt caused him any harm

Hello,
For the feeds, just make up the bottles with boiling water, and you can leave to cool, and don't need to keep in the fridge. When you need to feed, just add the right amount of powder, and warm up if you are doing that. The bottles should be sterile for 24hrs then.
The amount of feed each baby needs is different. If you find that Alfie is draining the bottles then make up an extra ounce - ask your health visitor if you are not sure.
Infacol is fine to keep using and shouldn't constipate him. Some babies are harder to get the wind up - once he has burped, try lying him down, and then sitting him up and winding again. Sometimes putting the baby in a sitting position, and slowly moving his body around in a circle can help release the wind ( keep him in an upright position - i hops that makes sense!)

Hi ladies,
few questions from a first timer....
with the feeds is it ok to make them n put them in the fridge i know it says not too but i know a lot do ive been making my nigfht feed n early morning one n leaving them in the fridge but now im getting a bit worried in case i make my Alfie sick???
also how much fed r they supposed to take when alfie was in special care they told us for his weight 70ml obviously now hes 3 weeks hes heavier and hes taking between 80ml and 110ml now but when do u up it and how do u know if its enough?
My alfie is a windy baby... he does some huge burps but always has some excess that he cant get up n it upsets him with the build up every few days. health visitor said give him infacol and give ihim a bath (in the middle of the nite think not!!) i dont really wanna start relying on infacol and sil said it made her baby consitpated n i dont want to swap one prob for another!! any ideas????
im talking to my baby lots and giving him loads of cuddles etc... is there anything i should be doing to stimulte my baby?
ill prob think of more things!! lol please feel free to add ...

when i had my first, archie i done things how my mum and sister done them but my dp family done things completely different and tried getting me to do things how they did them as they thought their way was the best, they didnt try forceing me but sort of constintly commented on my way of doing things and saying if you do it this way its easier sort of thing.
but i had to nicely tell them thanks for the advice but im fine when all i wanted to say was leave me alone im doin fine
everyone has their own way of doing things it doesnt mean its wrong
also i think these new rules are to make things difficult so you will breast feed as the govenment are making such a big deal about it
also check out a baby milk website you have to tick a box before seeing the website aggreeing that breast feeding is better and that by seeing this website they aint trying to influence you into buying their milk lol
