I feel I'm missing out with my midwife care slightly i've read alot of posts where people have been offered home visits and get to know there midwife through out there pregnancy. Not once have i seen the same midwife twice most of the time i don't even know there names and the antinatal midwifes don't deal with the delivery or the post natal care so when i go into labour it will be with a group of doctors and midwifes ive never met before.

I personally feel large hospital maternity care fails us as mothers to be

Every pregnancy i have had birth plan has been discussed at 36 weeks and they should normally go thru all the other stuff over the weeks and tick it off as it has been discussed.

Im on 3rd and she still wants 2 discuss it with me she said she is gonna call me on saturday and see how my scan went and either book me in for turning with consultant or book me in with her for birth plan.

Ask your mw when your next in. Also you can right it in yourself i have always put notes in mine about what i want.

Gosh they do vary these MWs. So far Ive been quite lucky, my MW is very chatty and interested.  Going through my birth plan next week and she has asked that my OH attend to so he can be part of it...she will visit me at hom if he cant get away from work.

Mind you it all might go out of the window the next day as I will find out at my scan if I need a C section due to a low placenta but she is still happy to go through one.

i had my 36wk appointment today and no birth plan was discussed, in fact none of the stuff written on the list of what should be discussed has been. they always just say to me 'have you got any questions' which of course i can't think of at the time.

i just got told as i was leaving today, see you in 2weeks if you haven't had baby before then! LOL

I have one written out and i think i will try the note pad for questions but its just so hard to ask them things when you feel they just wana get it over and done with.

Birth plans should be discussed at 36 week appointment.  I would write one out and ask her to look at it and see if it's ok.  Also next time you see a mw start blurting out questions or have a note book with you with all the questions you want answered etc.

Dont know if its right or not but my midwife only every does my bloods, urine and measurements.  We have never discussed anything else.  Once asked her about a water birth and all she said was ask for it when you go into labour.

I was wondering if this was normal in my antinatal notes theres loads of things on bottlefeeding and breastfeeding and my birthplan it says my midwife should of gone through with me by 24 weeks. I'm now 35+1 and i've not once seen the same midwife none of them seem to care all they do is listen to the heartbeat and send me for blood tests i can spend 3 hours waiting to see one and be in and out of the room in 15mins 10 of them spent in silence while they fill in my notes. I was looking at baby milk feeds on the asda site today and it hit me that i don't even know if my hospital will provide milk for me if i can't BF i feel like complaining but not sure its worth it and if this is normal with the NHS these days
