Bump

Cont.... My milk is coming in today (ouch!) and I can't believe how happy but bloody weepy I am!! Jessica is an absolute angel and just sleeps, stares at me and is getting the hang of feeding now. If anyone is still waiting I hope I haven't scared them - each labour is different! I hope my next one is anyway. Sarah - surviving on 5 hours sleep since Monday!13/11/08 21:39
Hi Ladies Here is my birth story for Baby Jessica, born on 11/11/08 at 2am, weighing 7lbs 1oz. I was sent in to Basildon hospital to be induced on Monday (10 Nov) evening as I had reached 42+14 with no signs of this little one making a show of it. My midwife had done a second sweep on Saturday 8th and I had been getting pains on and off for the next couple of day but nothing regular. When I got into the unit they examined me and said although I was not contracting I was favourable so they put me on the monitor for 1 hour to check the babies heart rate. At about 9.30pm I had the pessary inserted and was told I would be in for the long haul and they would check on me again in the morning. They said my hubby may as well go home as nothing much was going on. Well within about 20 mins I started getting contractions every couple of minutes and lasting for about a minute each. I could not believe how much they knocked the wind out of my sails and thought if this is early labour then I am screwed!! I was not coping coping too great as it was such a sudden and intense pain. Hubby was really tired and we were debating whether he should go home but the contractions intensified very quickly (still about 1-2 mins apart) and never let up once. We tried the TENS machine but it was useless at this point. We called the midwife at 11.30pm and she gave me two co-codamal to take the edge off (didn't even touch the sides) and within half an hour I had thrown them up and some of my waters had gone. They examined me, found I was 3-4cm and sent me up to delivery ward. When I got there I paced around the room as I couldn't bear to lie down and tried a bit of the gas and air. For 3 contractions I thought, this is fab....I feel drunk but then my waters went again and I suddenly was violently sick - again! So no more gas and air for me. By this point I could not believe how painful the contractions were and how much shouting and hollering I was doing...my husband was quite shocked and has said since I sounded like a wounded animal screaming in pain. The midwife could see I was trying to squat by the window with each contraction so got me on the bed and when they examined me I was 8cm's. She offered me Pethadine as no one available to do an epidural but I umm'ed and aah'ed as I wasn't sure in my head it was safe for the baby. By the time i decided my waters really went and that found a huge poo that the baby had done. They quickly hooked me up to the monitor and found that the babies heart rate was decelerating and would no longer let me have Pethadine. Mini-panic stations then ensued as first more midwives arrived to find I was trying to push and then they called the doctor. She wasn't happy with the babies heart rate so called the senior registrar who said we have to get this baby out if they couldn't slow the contractions down. She sprayed something under my tongue (which I still have no idea what it was) to try and slow things down but it didn't work. So they offered me gas and air which I refused and they then got on with an episiotomy and ventouse to get little Jessica out. I pushed and she was out in 10mins. I could not believe how quickly the pain just went. Anyhow Jessica had poo coming out of her nose and mouth and had to be given oxygen and have her nose clear and her APGAR scores was 6 at 1min, 6 at 5mins and nearly had to be rushed down to the NICU. Luckily she picked up quickly and at 10mins and her score went up to 9. On my notes they said first stage of labour was 3hrs 50mins, 2nd stage 10mins and 3rd stage 5 seconds - that placenta just whooshed out! I only have 6 stitches which were done brilliantly by the registrar. I think I was totally naive how painful labour would be and my hubby was very traumatised by it and how much pain I was in. He's proud I did it with no pain relief but as I keep telling him, it wasn't out of choice! Its a cliche but my baby girl was so totally worth it and the12/11/08 17:22

well i was due the 23 october but after two unsucessful sweeps i was induced on tues 4/11/08. i got to the hospital at 9.15am and was put on the monitor, all was fine with bubs and then they gave me the first pessary just before 10am. went for a walk and nothing was really happening, went back to my room for some lunch and then off for another walk. at about 1.30pm i started getting some period pains but nothing much else. at 4pm they gave me another pessary and the pains were a little stronger but still no contractions. at 5.30pm we moved from the labour ward up to the birth centre to settle and wait for things to happen. i also was really keen to have a water birth. dh decided to purchase a tv card incase we were in for a long wait and about a minute after he had put the phone down my waters went! lol needless to say we never ended up watching any tv. they brought me some dinner at about 6pm but couldn't touch it was my contractions had started. they were quite strong straight away and coming quite quickly but were also really irregular. i was examined and only 1-2cm dilated so still a long way to go. at approx 8pm the midwife came to examine me again and nothing had really changed so went and had a bath. contractions were still all over the place and at 10pm the mw came into see me as they were concerned i was progessing quickly enough and that they thought i should go on the drip. i really didn't want this but was also fed up of the pain so said if i was to go on that i would have an epidural. she said she would contact the labour ward and when she did they were really busy so i would have to wait *** src="../../smiley/msn/sad_smile.gif" alt="" />
contractions were still coming and really painful so mw gave me some pethadine to make me drowsy and see if i could get any sleep, it didn't really help that much but did make me a bit sleepy. at midnight i was examined and only 3cm which was really disappointing so they left me to it. after that i wasn't seen to until 5.30am *** src="../../smiley/msn/omg_smile.gif" alt="" /> as the mw's were both busy with other women in labour (i had literally been buzzing all night as was in loads of pain!) and when she exmained me i was 8cm and did it all without any gas and air. mw went off to get me some and to call labour ward, the g &a was a nice relief and took the edge of things and then i got down to the labour ward.
not sure of timings now but they sent dh off to get some food and in the meantime i was hooked up to everything and the anesatist (sp?) was called to put in the epidural. well i am soooo glad i had one as it instantly kicked in and i felt so much better without the pain. the epidural didn't even hurt going in. when dh got back i was sat up in bed chatting away! lol
it basically then took me 11 hours to fully dilate and i nearly had to have a c-section as the dr's were getting concerned. at 4.30pm they said they were going to give me half an hour to push or that i would have one. dh went to get gowned up as they wanted to transfer me to theatre for pushing as the baby was big and didn't think i'd get him out on my own. off we went, and then with the help of forceps and only 4 pushes and an episiotomy *** src="../../smiley/msn/sad_smile.gif" alt="" /> out came my little (or big) man! he weighed in at 9lb 6oz and took a few mins to get his breath.
all is going well, he is currently fast asleep but i was hungry and couldn't as i think my body clock is a bit messed up.
hope everyone is doing well with their lo's and congratulations to all xxx

Hey there well its been 2 weeks since i had my little girl Mia on the 26th october but only just got a chance to write my birth story things hav bin so hectic hehe
well here goes i was due 2 giv birth on the 11th october but went 2 weeks overdue so was booked in to be induced on saturday 25th at 7am, so turned up at the hospital had an examination my cervix stil completly closed and hard so they gave me a pessarie, was then told theyd leave me 6 hours 2 c wot happens, after about 2 hours was gettin contractions that were absolute agony and were evry 5 minutes had another examination and were told they were some kind of pre contraction forgotten wot they called them now that were caused by the pessarie and were painful but did absolutly nothing, so 6 hours l8r was given another pessarie which also did nothing just made the pains stronger and they sed theyd have 2 leave me and my partner down in the assesment room overnight just in case something happened, was in pain all thru the night didnt manage to get hardly any sleep and was given diamorphine for the contractions that wernt evn actual contractions which just ended up making me sick

also because the assesment rooms were just down the hall from the labour suites went owt 2 the toilet in the night and herd a women screamin her hed off given birth which just sent me in 2 tears and they had 2 get a mw 2 cum and sit with me 2 calm me down because i was so petrified lol
7 in the morning came on the sunday and midwife came in and told me to get in 2 my delivery clothes and follow her to the labour suite and theyl put me on the drip, after half an hour they were able to break my waters, was then told it may stil take up until that night for me to deliver, after a diamorphine injection and having an epidural i was assessd a few hours later and they told me i was 4cm dialated, 20 minutes after that i told them i needed 2 push and the mw's looked at me funny and sed right we'l chek u again and they told me that i was able 2 push if i wanted 2 so then after a long pregnancy, nothing happening the day before with the pessaries and just 10 minutes of pushing Mia Alexis was born, 7lb 6ozs.
Unfortunatly i had raised bp during labour and high pulse rate and protein in my urine so was put on fluid drips and monitored down in the labour suite until midnight that night, also had 2 have a catheter put in, and had 2 have sooo many stitches as i tore 6 times but it was all worth it in the end, she's perfect and cudnt imagine life without her x

Hi i haven't been on here for ages but now can finally write my birth story!
Finlay william was born sun 19th october weighing 7lb 11oz after i went into labour fri 17th 2am. I was in constant pain through until 1pm sun but wasn't diliating so was sent home from hospital twice before things finally got going on the sun lunchtime and he was born 8.03pm that night!
Sadly he was born with strep b and spent a week in special care and was very poorly. The poor thing got blood poisoning but he is now home and doing really well nearly back up to his birth weight!
I didn't want to post my birth story until everyone had hopefully had their babies as didnt want to scare or upset anyone.
Hope everyone is doing well x

Alfie was due on the 25th, but decided to make his entrance to the world on 19th! My waters went at 2 in the morning so i had to go down to the main hospital to check that it was actually my waters and was back at home by 3! contractions were already coming pretty quickly, but i managed to stay at home for 5 more hours (in a lot of pain) i was being sick with every other contraction because of the pain. my mum came up at 7:30 while i was in the bath and told me i needed to get to the birthing centre quickly coz she couldn't see it being long before he arrived.
So we were flying down the motorway with my headout the window because i was so hot (freezing DF). Got to the hospital at 8:30 and the midwife needed to check me over, She was shocked when she realised i was already 8cm dilated (think she thought i was over exaggerating when i was outside the labour ward on all fours......being a first time mum). So started me on gas and air straight away.
I was on the gas and air for an hour and half then alfie arrived screaming at 10:26, weighing in at a healthy 7lbs!
love and kisses kayleigh and Alfie x x x x9/11/08 09:46
Crikey Blackcat! Hats off to you, hope you and lo are doing wellxx
So here's my birth story.....Mia Rose was 10 days late, she was born on 6th Nov at 0612am weighing 7lb 14oz. She's absolutely gorgeous! So on 4th Nov I started getting painful period pains randomly throughout the afternoon, my midwife had done a sweep on the 3rd so petty sure that got things going. They carried on throughout the night but must have tailed off in the early hours as next thing I knew it was morning! Went for a long dog walk in the morning with dh and ds (and dog!) to try and get them starting up again - which it did! They weren't painful at this point, I just knew they were too regular to be anything else! They progressed through the afternoon and by about 1530pm they were coming every 10mins and were quitye painful. I was told by mw to call up at this point as we live 45mins from hosp, its 2nd baby and I had GBS with ds so had to ave IV antibiotics throughout this labour too, mw on delivery suit told us to come in to get checked over.
Got there and I was monitored and examined and I was only 2-3cm with really deflated me, and also she was back to back eek! So the sister that was looking after us suggested she tried some accupressure on me, which I was dubious about but if notyhing else it definately relaxed me! Got on the Gas and Air at about 7pm, 10pm I was 3cm - OH MY GOD, I couldn't believe it, all that pain for half a cm!!! She broke my waters and then it picked up alot, however by 0130am I was still only 6-7cm so I opted for an epidural as I didn't want diamorphine because of bad experience with ds labour! I hae to say at this point, why the hell did I not have an epidural with my first labour i eill never know, it was fantastic!! I fell asleep and was woken at 0430am to be examined, and I was 10cm! Was told we'd wait an hour, then I could start pushing, so at 6am assumed the position of pushing and she was born at 0612am! Couldn't believe that we got a little girl, we now have one of each!
I gave her a breastfeed straight away and another when we got to the ward but I had already decided to bottle feed after that and its all going really well. I had no stitches, 2 tiny grazes and a bruise. I feel amazingly well, my milk has come in today so boobs are a little sore. I am so happy!!
Laura and Mia 3days old xxxxxx

The next thing I knew a very blood covered baby was put in my arms and someone said here's your baby before she was taken away to the resus trolley. They were rubbing her hard and giving her oxygen because she was grunting & sounded full of fluid. In the mean time I was being sewn up but was in total shock. I was shaking and just starring straight ahead. I could hear my blood dripping on the floor & my husband was very scared. The placenta was pulled out and I was quickly shown my baby before she was taken to SCBU.
I had to stay on the bed for the next few hours to let the epidural wear off a bit & then was wheeled round to SCBU to see her. It was now around 5am and I was admitted to the ward & my husband was sent home. Around 9am I was woken up and went to SCBU and was allowed to hold her. She was off oxygen but had a glucose drip & was on IV anti-biotics just incase she had swallowed something on the way out.
Anyway I spent a total of 6 days in hospital & ended up needing a blood transfusion but my baby was given the all clear & hadn't got any infections or swallowed anything nasty.
We are both doing OK now and I'm pleased to be home with my gorgeous baby girl.

Well, the epidural worked fast & I calmed down a bit. I was so tired as by now I hadn't slept for 2 days & kept falling asleep. The midwife kept an eye on the monitor at I was checked every so often to see how the dilating was progressing. The epidural worked better on one side than the other & I started getting terrible backache on one side. When I finally reached 10cm I was told I had an hour to get baby out otherwise it would be an assisted delivery.
My legs were put into up into the stirrups which was so uncomfortable but after 1 hour 10 mins of pushing there was still no baby & her heartrate was very erractic so the room filled with loads of people. I had 2 doctors, 2 midwifes, 3 people by the resus trolley & paediatrician. The baby was suck & hadn't moved through my cervix at all. Ventouse was tried first but she wouldn't budge so they got the forceps out. I was cut so they could get them in but first atttempt failed. The doctor tried again & managed to get them round the baby's head. I then had to wait for the next contraction and push as hard as I could while the doctor pulled.

Here's my story:
Laura born 3rd Nov weighing 8lb 8oz at 2.25am and 10 days late
Well it all started at 2am on Friday 31st Oct when I woke up every 20 mins with terrible backache. It eased of a bit and the midwife came round to do a sweep but cervix was closed & she couldn't do it. In the afternoon the pain became worse & I ended up in hospital at 10pm that night. I was monitored for 2 hrs & contractions were 2-3 in 10 mins. I was admitted that night given co-codamol for the pain.
I was monitored again the next morning & contractions were still the same so by the afternoon I was told I would be induced that night. Around 8pm they decided not to do the induction as they thought it would be safer for me to progress naturally. That night the pain goes worse & contractions became stronger & I couldn't sleep through them. By 8am Sunday morning my waters started trickling & I was in so much pain I asked for something stronger & the gas & air was brought round & I was put back on the monitor;. By lunchtime I was having 4 contractions every 10 mins & was 4cm dilated. I was transferred to labour ward & was coping fine on the gas & air.
Now here's where it starts getting hazy. At some point Sunday afternoon my contractions stopped. I had to get back on the bed & strapped to the monitor again. After an hour still nothing had happened so I was given a saline drip to start with to see if that would help. It didn't so they decided to induce with the hormone in the drip (can't remember what it is called). It was the most unpleasant thing I have every experienced - I went from no pain what so ever to the most intense pain I have ever felt. The contractions were coming so hard & fast they had to turn the drip down & I ended up with an epidural which was also horrible because I was so out of it with the pain that my husband had to hold me still so they could get the needle in.
i'll continue on next post

madison-grace was born on 21st october @ 13:00 hours
gotup at 6am that morning with a burst of energy so thought i would do a bit of tidying up before my daughter woke up, then thought at 9am i would go and do some food shopping. by the time i got to iceland it was 10am and i got my 1st pain/contractions thought i would text my oh and my mum as it was very painfull esp in my back got half way hrough my shoping and they were coming every 4 to 5 minutes lasting aroun 35 seconds so i rushed to the check out to pay for my shopping and got them to deliver it or me that evening.
i thought if im in labour i best get my daughter something to eat so went macdonalds and the pain was unbearable i couldnt stand p straight felt as if someone had kicked me in my back. so rang for a taxi to come asap to take me to my mums at this point it was nearly 11am. got to mymums she ran me a bath got in it and felt really bad sharpness in me lady bits so got out as it wasnt helping at all. oh got to me mums around 11.45 at the point was getting pains every 2 to 3 minutes lasting 50 seconds still beearable mind but was painfull.
so off we went to hospital got there for 12.15pm they took me straight to delivery room and checked my cervix i was 8 cm dilated and waters buldgeing but baby was back to back so she didnt want to break my waters, she wanted to give me a while just incase baby would turn.
come 1pm my body started pushing and pushed most of my waters out while still in the sac and then burst all over the student midwife. then 30 seconds later baby cameout in 1 contractions, the midwife was out the room and the poor student mw s*** her self lol bless her her face was a picture. baby managed to turn her self so ididnt tear at all which was nice. then at 1.02pm i pushed placenta out.
the 6 hours later i was discharged from the hospital which was great.
1st stage of labour was 2 hours 59 minutes
2nd stage was 1 minute
3rd stage was 2 minutes
which to me was pritti fast she said she would of came even faster if she wasnt back to back, as with my 1st pregnancy labour was only 45minutes so im kinda lucky lol

My Baby Boy ’Shaan’ was born 27th Oct 08 at 8.17 am, weighing 7lbs. Had an impressive 3 hour labour considering it was my 1st baby. Pains started lightly at 11pm got very bad contractions by 2.30am got to hospital 3.00am. Had a 2hour 18min 1st stage (contractions) 39mins 2nd Stage (pushing) 3min 3rd stage (placenta. Had an epistomy and 3 stitches which were extremely painful an took 10 days to heal. Had to cut and clamp cord coz of epiostomy. Been extremely tiring and stressful coz was tiring to breastfeed for 4 days without sleeping day and night n baby kept crying so gave up. Settled now with bottle feeding. I’m recovered 90% too on 10th day.4/11/08 23:49
Ok i haven't yet added my birth story so here goes.
This time last week i was in labour can't believe it!!
So at 9pm on Tues 28th October was led on my bed on the laptop and i felt a warm trickle between my legs. I questioned myself at first and realised it must have been my waters. So i went down to my mum and told her, wasn't having any pains by this point.
My boyfriend was stopping at his mums that night as he is from a different town than me. I rung him and asked him to come over as i wanted him to be here just in case. Still wasn't having any pains at this point. But i was getting quite excited that it was all starting.
My boyfriend arrived around 10ish and it seemed to be as soon as he arrived that my contractions started. We got onto contraction master and saw they were coming every 4 mins and last around 45 seconds.
Mum rung the hospital who said that as my waters had broke to go up whenever i was ready. So i checked all my bags and got up to hospital around 11ish, straight into delivery suite.
As soon as i got on the bed i threw up (nice!), got striaght on gas and air as contractions were 2 mins apart by now as strong. Was monitored for a while (which drove me mad as i hated being strapped to the bed!!) Midwife checked me over was 7cm dilated but waters still in tact, had been my hind waters that had gone.
Carried on on gas and air felt urges to push but was told not to. Was offered pethedine and my mum asked midwife to give it to me. OH held form up for my consent to sign which i did and mw gave me pain relief she then said that it will take 20mins or so to kick in and that as my waters were bulging she could break them for me. I thought my this time head was out as i felt something inbetween my legs turns out it was my waters they were so far out of me but wouldn't burst.
MW broke my waters at 1am and baby JJ was born with 2 pushes at 1.15am......he came out with his hand to his face so midwife managed to get his hand away so i pushed again and my oh said JJ flew down the bed and mw had to catch him......baby Jacob James was born weighing 6lbs 12.5ounces on the day he was due 29-10-2008 and is a very healthy gorgeous miracle who couldnt wait any longer to make his arrival into the world!!!
Labour lasted 4 hours approx in all from hind waters breaking.
Once in hospital 1st stage was 2hrs, 2nd stage 15mins and 3rd stage 20mins. Had 4 external stitches for a slight graze.
JJ is nearly a week old now and is amazing. We both love him so much and more every day. Wouldnt change him for the world!!!

gone 1st that time. At this point DP got in the pool with me and I was so glad for his support

I got back in the pool and felt like I really wanted to push but I wasn't allowed, I really wanted them to break my waters by this point as in my mind I still had a whole pushing phase to go
but they said it would be best for baby to let things go naturally. Still the contractions didn't feel like "real" contractions just a bloody awful pain in my bum and I felt tight under my bump. I cheated a bit on the pushing, I kept trying to do sly ones as that helped with the pain. Things got really really intense and by that point I really started to question wether I could actually go on (I was just thinking about the 2nd stage still hanging over me) Next thing *POP* there went the waters and there was the head! We were all so shocked! We waited for the next contraction and I pushed again! Baby Georgia Serenne was born 1:56am After a 2min 2nd phase. She flew out into the water and then seemed to dive to the bottom, the MW nearly fell in the pool trying to grab her! Comedy moment, we have it all on film hehe
After she was born I was a bit unprepared for the next bit, I was convinced I had torn as Georgia flew out with such force and I was still having pains afterwards and felt quite sick! Something I didnt experience before. It took quite a few mins to get me upright and out of the pool because it was a very odd sensation to go from being weightless in the pool to standing up with no bump! When they got me on the bed, the MW was a bit rough when she checked me but all was fine, just a graze.
I still can't believe our birth went to plan, it was the best thing I could have ever done! I'm convinced that if you've had a baby with no problems before and you are low risk, then you are mad to be planning a hospital birth!3/11/08 19:35
Well loooong over due writting this but here goes!
After having an early baby last time I just expected to go early again, so by the time I reached the 40 weeks mark (and after 2 false starts) I asked the MW for a sweep. At 4:30pm on my due date the MW came round and gave me a VERY thorough sweep, to my delight she commented that the baby was extremely low, she could stretch me to 4cm and that my waters were bulging. Almost straight away I started haveing the by now very familiar braxton hicks just under my bump and a show. The MW told me that she'd "eat her hat" if I didnt have the baby that night so we packed the kids off to their aunties at 5:30pm.
(Hr later) I was getting more braxton hicks and started getting a strong period type ache under my bump and also had pressure underneath with each tightening. The tightenings got quite regular but weren't painful the only thing niggling was the period pain that I just couldnt shake. I also had a pain *TMI ALERT* right in my bum! we decided that things were probably moving at about 8:30 as I'd been having tightenings approx every 7 mins although not painful I was getting a bit uncofty with the pain in my bum and the period pain. We phoned the MW to ask if I could get in the pool to get rid of the period pain and she said I could and suggested she come round and check me. Once I was in the pool the period pain went completely! so I was worried the pool would slow me down. When the MW came I got out and she checked me, I was 3cms and she offered to stay but I still wasn't convinced I was in established labour, the tightenings weren't round the back, just the front and my waters still hadnt gone which is what I was waiting for. The MW joked about me at least pulling some sort of face when I was having a tightening but they honestly weren't painfull there was a pulling sensation under my bump.
We couldnt decide wether we should go to bed or not so I said we'd go for a walk and if things werent moving by 10pm we'd go to bed. While we were on the walk the tightenings got stronger and were definitely regular, towards the end of the walk they were making me slow down a bit but still painless apart from the pressure in my bum and the period pain I just kept wishing for my waters to go!! We'd had all this before and it had just stopped. At home we watched Xfactor lol and a bit of grand designs I got myself comfortable on the floor with cushions but after a while I couldnt sit down because of the pain in my bum. I decided to get in the pool again. We started timing the contractions on contraction master and they were 4 mins apart the period pain was relieved in the water and the contractions were still only round the front but with each tightening the pain in my bum was getting much worse! We called the midwives at 11 as by that point I was stating to have to breath through the contractions. Things really started moving by about 11:30 and I wanted the gas and air, the MWs marked that as the beginning for my 1st phase. The contractions were always in the front under my bump and I had immense pressure in my bum, I was conviced it was a part of the baby's anatomy and I even wondered if baby had turned breech cos it felt like a foot trying to come out of my backside!
By 12:30am the contractions were close together (about every 2 mins) and the MWs wanted to check me plus I needed a wee. I went upstairs for a wee and by the time we got up there I had a contraction and my god did I miss being in the pool! Also I didnt have any gas and air for that one so I was delighted when they brought it up, portable G&A, GENIUS!
Was loosing loads of plug, but waters STILL in tact
They checked me again downstairs and I was 5cm which I was a bit disheartened about as that wasn't nearly as quick as last time but I put that down to my waters having gone 1s3/11/08 11:27
Has taken me a while to put on but here goes;
Imogen Sarah Rauer born 2nd October 2008 at 05.17am weighing 6 pound 5 oz
Started having contractions at 9.45pm on 30th sept and they went from 10 mins apart to 3 mins within about 5 hours by which point they were quite painful so we went to the hospital. Got there was only 1cm so was sent home, obviously couldn't sleep cus was in pain so was awake all night. By mid morning the next day they had slowed down to every 6 - 10 mins but were much more painful. By 3pm the pain was to much so we went back to the hospital I was 3cm and had some pethidine which allowed me to sleep for an hour or so.
By 6pm I asked for some gas and air which was wicked really took the edge off the pain but after an hour of that I asked for an epidural. I was then 6cm and the baby was back to back. After waiting an hour for the anethetist and pretty much screaming where is she i had my epidural which was fantastic, although every time they topped it up it made me vomit and the anti sickness didnt stop it!
They broke my waters and about an hour after that I started pushing, I was pushing for an hour but she wasnt coming down quick enough and I was getting tired. My pulse was racing and her heart rate was over 200 at times so they wanted to get her out as fast as possible.
They took me to theatre to try the forceps with a possibility of an emergency c section, luckily the forceps worked first time and Imogen was born safe and sound.
I lost more blood than expected and was immediately put on iron tablets and nearly had a transfusion but luckily it wasnt needed. Unfortunately the hospital had the neuro virus at the time so visitors wern't allowed so my parents had to wait 2 days to meet her.
Well thats my story

Bump !

Sorry bit late! Thought i would put it on!!
My birth story, lets see how far i can get....
Sunday 2nd November, bleeding all day with pink discharge and having irregular contractions. Phoned MW and they said to come in if i was worried. Went into hospital at about 9 thinking that they would send me home again. I was wrong. Got there and contractions stopped. got monitored and lucy was being a big figit. GOt checked and i was closed, nothing there but there was a pool of blood at top of cervix. Had swab taken and told being kept in for the night and being induced in morning. Put on ward and mum and jon went home at about 12:30. Setttled down for the night and at 1:20am i felt a pop and my waters broke. SO it starts. For 5 or so hours i was on a ward with contractions, trying to be quiet. I was left on my own and had not pain relief. Got sent for a bath but it didn't really help. so i begged the MW at about 5:30am to check me, which she did which bloody hurt like hell and god did i scream. I was 4 cms dliated and they said that they would take me to delivery room.
So got there, mum and jon were phoned. Asked what i wanted for pain relief and i said gas and air. They said not good idea as it would wear me out. Got very cross with the MW and said i want an epiudural. They tried offering me pethadine and bath, but didn't want. Mum and Jon got there, could hear me down the corridor. I had the epidural by 8:15, although i got very distressed and nasty in between. Happy lady i was and by quarter past 11 i was fully dilated. but Lucy had not decended. I had to push from half 11 to half 12 and nothing. She did not even move. So they decided at half 12 that i was going to have forceps. Had lots of people check me. Oh and during this they decided she was back to back and had started to turn but not enough. had gas and air to help me not push. I thought i was sleeping but apparently i was dilllerious saying a lot of stupid things. (im missing out a lot of funny things i did and said, will say another time)
Finally went into theatre at three pm and was topped up to my chest as they were thinking i was going to have c-section. (i had majorly freaked out by then). They decided to have one go and that they did. Never been pulled so much in my life as i was then. Kept on saying to push and i kept saying where, i can't feel my bottom. Eventually she was out by 15:16. Got stitched up and Lucy got sorted. I didn't hold her til about 45 mins later as could not feel my body etc.
As for the strep B, doctor came next day about 1:30pm to tell me i had it and lucy got it as was not given antibotics during labour. This was from the swab taken sunday night. hence having to stay in for 5 days
Labour was timed from when my waters broke.
Soz bit long winded xx
