hiya, god where do i start....
Well, i know that most of you were helping me through my so called 'latent phase' of labour, little did i know why this was happening to me. I was getting contractions and they were picking up, but something kept me from going into labour, and no one really knew why, not even the MWs.
I started to get woken up at night by frightening episodes, which i thougt were just strong contractions, i would have a 'contraction and then it would be followed by a really long tremor episode.
Turns out that all along i actually had a kidney infection, that was progressing in intensity as time went on. The times i went to the midwife and explained these things to her, i was told i had a baby which was pulling on my ligaments and that i should go home and have a bath!!
I was getting a nasty pain in my side and on the night of the 7th, i woke at just after midnight with a searing pain in my side that would not go away. It got progressively worse, so i called my husband, and he rang the MW unit. They said to take paracetamol, and get in the bath. I took the paracetamol, and tried to get in the bath, but couldnt sit in it. I got out and the pain got worse. My husband then rang an ambulance because i said the pain didnt feel right and i had to be seen by someone. I was rushed to Truro hospital on gas and air, which lowered the pain, but only a bit.
They took me into an emergency delivery room, because they thought i was in labour. When i explained the pain, they knew straight away that it was not labour, and gave me a drip and took blood. The blood came back with a kidney infection and they gave me antibiotics intravenously.
My waters had also broken, so they had to get baby out. I was induced, and given an epidural, because the pain from the kidney infection was so intense. I was in labour for 5 hours, and pushed him out in 20minutes. Hes so beautiful and so pleased he is ok now.
He was born with an infection on his chst, so he was kept in neonatal, while i was in the ward. i breast fed him, and after 4 days, he was allowed back with me. We are now at home, and getting on well. Just one check up to make sure Jaydens platelet level has risen.
What a story. There are more details, but it would just be too long to explain everything.
