I was never smacked growing up,yeh i'd get a little tap on my bum or hand but never hurt me it was more the shock and i'd stop playing up!

I dont think you should need to smack kids,and as you said half time you see people tellin them off cuz they're fed up so playin up!

I really don't get it at all, if people smack their kids, while its not something I would do, its their decision BUT I am fed up of seeing kids under 2 getting smacked and threratened. There was some woman on the bus a few weeks back who smacked her 18 month old (and by smack I guess I mean proper slaps, you heard it reeal loud in the bus) several times in front of everyone on the bus while yelling  at it. The kid was obviously really fed up of being in the pushchair. If min gete like that, I ge them out until its time to get off the bus.

I dont think you should even need to hit a kid,maybe tap they're hand but nine times out of ten you change tone of voice and it scares them. My nephews 3 and even now you only have to go 'right count to 5 and if havent stopped your in trouble' and by 2 he's stopped! And even if he doesnt i just make him sit at bottom of stairs and he comes and says sorry!

As if you threaten to hit a baby tho! Thats wrong! Agree with your rant totally!

I heard someone threatening to hit their child in a shop the other and I burst into tears and wanted to take  the child home .

i was in sainsburys and there was a couple in front of me with a baby who couldn't be much older than 6 months and a on who was about 4. anyway, the baby took her arm out of the strap thing that holds them in place in thosee baby seats in the trolley (they ween't done up tight at all) and the dad says to her 'holly, if you do that one more time i am going to smack you' wtf is up with that p***, she isn't even a year old. her mum stood up for her, but if the dad is like that in public, i would hate tto think what he is like at home (he looked really p1ssed off).
