Ooh exciting eh  Finkle, fingers crossed you dont have to wait too long! I hope im not waiting long now either, i have 6 days left but who knows!

As for where to have the baby, I havent masde any plans im just going to see how I feel. I didnt really want a pool but the MW said its not a prob to labour and birth in the bath if thats what i feel like. I dont really fancy my bedroom, just doesnt feel 'right' but also to me the whole point of me havnig a Hb is not to be lying on the bed!

    Hi Ju

My midwifes have been supportive of home birth thank goodness . Have got 3 at my surgery and they prefer to deliver there own ladies babies (where possible) rather than an oncall midwife. Have to say , one of them is a bit dippy so wont be calling her mobile first when the time comes, shes nice enough but very forgetful and comes out with the most random things. On one appointment my dp came along and she was asking him where her hole punch was (he had never met her or stepped foot in her office before) then went on to sing us a rhyme about sons and daughters , ha . Shes nice enough but i think a labour with her would be an experience to laugh at later but not at the time if you know what i mean .

I wasnt allowed the home visit until i reached my 38week mark either , but have reached that now so as long as im not late and have to be induced i should be ok.

It is your birth so i think you should be able to do what you want and have baby where you feel comfortable. I think the key is to be firm with them when the time comes. First time round i was a bit of a wimp and let them boss me around but this time its gonna be on my terms and luckily i have very supportive partner who will speak up for me if im not able.

They will HAVE to attend you if you birth at home.

MWs only need access to you physically for monitoring (which can be done in any position) with a doppler and for afterwoulds if there are any tears etc. I had a very awkward living situation previously (I mean REALLY awkward), low beds etc, my MWs were just toally chuffed to get to see a home water birth.

    hi Rachel.

Well i had a disappointing midwife appointment as she really did not seem enthusiastic about a home birth! She asked me if i was going to have a camp bed in the lounge if i gave birth in there, now i was thinking, I'll use a blow up mattress in case i wanted to lie down, but im not planning on lying down much!! She said that its not really good having a low down bed as it makes it difficult for the MWs?? WTF, i thought it was about what you wanted, not their needs! Anyway, they are going to ring me to arrange a home visit.  Whats your experiences of MWs attitudes?  Im hoping she doesnt end up being the one who comes out!

love ju and 36 + 3 jr,  Oh yeah and im not allowed a HB until 38 weeks, even though the hospital said 37 and the leaflet she has given me says 37! Whats that about!? LOL

MWs let me birth where I want, how I want, TBH it all depends on how I feel at the time.

    Hi Ju

My plan is to have baby in our bedroom but midwife has said she wants me moving around the house and not stuck in one room so i think i will just see what happens. Not setting my heart on any room just gonna take it as it goes. Am not sure on the answer to your question sorry hun. Have you had your home visit yet? the midwife should be able to tell you then if its a problem

    Hello,

Could i ask a question? Im now allowed to have a homebirth, as decreed by God which is the consultant!LOL

Which room do you intend to give birth in? I want to give birth in my attic bedroomm so 2 flights of stairs, but would i be able to cos of health and safety, paramedic access etc? If not its the lounge! It would be lovely and private up there though!

OMG I've got the carpet fitters in doing dd's room and the staircarpet, and I'm in soooooooo much discomfort I just want to lie down and feel sorry for myself but I can't. Can't even swear when I get pains like I usually do (yes it really does help lol) cos the house is full of people and its afriend as well whos doing it so every time I pull a face they're panicing I'm going to have baby there and then!

And to top it all off, the next door neighbours boyfriend has just come knocking on the door asking to use the phone cos she's not answering the door (she's been really poorly recently) so let him in, turns out she's just avoiding him but is now coming home to speak to him, and he's been sat in my house for ages waiting for her!

Kinda glad I've got a house full of people now cos that guys a bit freaky and I wouldn't want to be on my own with him.

    Hi

I have got my homevisit tomorrow when i will receive my birth pack . Will be 37+6. Panic is setting in now Think its just the labour im worried about and not the homebirth tho. Worrying about silly little things tho, like the neighbours hearing my screams and the messy side and what if i cant do it . Gave birth 5 years ago but cant remember much about it apart from it hurt ALOT. I guess its normal to feel all this right?

    **** Homebirth Rocks!!! ****

It really was fantastic!!!  I had one wobbly moment when I felt I couldn't do it, I realised at that point I was in transition, which meant that baby would be be really really soon.

I put my Birth story on the HB forum here http://my.bounty.com/forums/post/177/1654167/1/1/1/Lilchicks-birth-story.htm

and I'll put it one DIN when I have sorted out my camera and pop some piccies on too

DH loved homebirth and loved that fact he didn't loose that first night with his third child.  DD loved it because she got to see Alby still attached in the pool, ds1 is still getting used to not being the baby anymore, lol!

Believe in your self and your amazing bodies and you will be able to do it at home!

Wishing you all lots of luck and will keep checking for some fabulous HB stories

Sarah and Alby (3 days old!)
