I went into labour at 35 weeks and DD was born at 36 weeks, she weighed 6lb 11oz and had no breathing problems or anything. She was on the main maternity ward with me, and the only thing was she developed jaundice after a couple of days, but the lamps soon sorted that out. We would have been home within a few days, but coz it was me that was so ill we had to stay in longer!

think it depends on the individual baby to be honest, some babies may have breathing problems before 36 weeks others are fine and are ready to come out and wont need special care, dont think there is anyway of knowing until they actually arrive as all babies are different, same as weight i think the average 36 week baby is around 5lb but then again this can vary depending on size and build of the mother among other factors!

I know 37wks is considered full term.. But if a baby comes at 35 or 36kwks, would they have to go into special care unit??  Anyone had babies before at this stage and how was it..

How big is an average baby round 35wks
