Good luck with the GTT Jess.

1st babies do engage earlier than 2nd+ babies, my ds was on my nerve for 6 weeks then engaged at 35 weeks it isnt necessarily an indication that you will go into labour. Some peoples babies engage 4weeks+ before baby is born, my ds engaged 5 days before i went into labour so there really is no telling. This baby is head down but not engaged but i have been told that 2nd+ babies a lot of the time dont engage til labour begins.

Good luck with the GTT Jess. I found mine a nuisance not being able to eat for hours and hours, not good for a starving pregnant woman!!! lol

Luckily mine came back perfect, hope yours do too.

Steph ive just got back from mw too and im also 3/5 engaged... it means they have to get to 1/5 before they are fully engaged i think.,. but when its your 1st it does happen very early apparently,

My bp is back to normal! still protein in my wee but i can live with that. just got my GTT test now tomorrrow!

Amy i think i have water retention.. as the swelling is obviously nothing serious so it must just be water.. ive not been able to wear my rings for about 5 weeks now and can only wear 1 pair of these black flats i had for work, as there wide enough for my expanding feet! lol

No fluid retention for me. But went out on the weekend in heels and luckily took flats as i was almost crying in pain by the end of the night.

My ds has been cuddling my bump (a little roughly) and my period pains are laods worse now, think they should fade soon enough. Everytime i get them im convinced this is it lol

BTW- is anyone else getting fluid retention now?

Think the swelling in my fingers is just fluid coz no protein in my wee to show PET . Had to take off engagenemtn ring yesterday and now it's leaving marks on my finger. Sunday went out in high heels. Feet swelled over the elastic of the shoes...attractive...not! and really hurt and now I'm struggling to do up my knee high boots that used to be a litle big on the legs.

I'm a big, bloated heffer. Not fair

Laura- IMO cannabis is the most dangerous drug for your mental health that there is. I've met many paranoid scizophrenics who blame their illness on cannabis, not the crack or ketamin that they now take to get rid of their symptoms but cannabis, a drug that seems to be widely accepted in this country and has been down graded by the government in their wisdom. One of the biggest side effects of cannabis is paranoia.

I wonder if he's been assessed by a mental health team rather than just seeing his GP. Obviously GPs have a big part to play in mental health but sometimes it's just good to get a more specialised opinion. I've worked for a community team where they would have a couple of days per week for new assesment clinic. You'd have a whole hour to talk to the person and then as it was carried out by 2 staff, a discussion would follow between the staff as to whether they fitted the criteria for secondary mental health care (more support than a GP can give). They can also usually find out the ones who aren't telling the whole truth!!

Seems like something needs to be done as he's not taking his medication and is smoking cannabis and drinking lots from what you say.  He really doesn't want to end up with schizophrenia, it's a dreadful illness.

Really though it all comes down to how much he wants to change his lifestyle. If he's motivated you can find help.

Though unfortunately there's very little help out there to help people give up cannabis as it's not a physical addiction like heroin, crack or alcohol but there are some teams in some parts of the country springing up. He could always find a drug and alcohol NHS team or charity to discuss his drinking if he thinks it's getting out of control and they will help with the cannabis too probably. He will most likely be offered counselling as there's reasons why people chose to ignore the negative side-effects of their drugs and carry on using regardless.

I'm not sure what's around coz of the different areas we're in but GP will have access to these numbers, or search online.

Hope he gets help and sorts himself out.

As there was no medical reason for him being early im as likely to go overdue as i am early. But still keeping fingers crossed. Mw said that and doctor said sometimes your body has a set limit. I think doctors are more likely to give opinions than mws.  She did say its not 100% but it does sound like my bodies preparing.

Em, did they say you'd be more likely to have a baby early because the last one was or does it make no difference?

    Hi

I wouldnt want an epidural cos id hate to not be able to move and i had a shower about 30 mins after ds was born which was lovely cos you are covered in all sorts of stuff.  I had pethadine when i had my mc and i hated it it made me feel drunk and really loopy and i spoke to the mws for hours about nothing just kept talking crap so am hoping not to need them.  Id rather not have forceps but what will be and all that.

Laura im 35 weeks today too and my ds was born at 36+2 so i could have a baby next week too lol.  Im getting awful braxton hicks with tummy and back pain and a lot of pain in my pubic bone.

Tbh i hope it is all starting to happen, my poor ds is not taking it very well now. I think he senses change and children love routine so i think hes worried and its made him so clingy. He hates df going to work and he doesnt want to go to nursery (even though he loved it up to 3 weeks ago) and hes stroppy and argumentative and doesnt even want to go to bed cos he wants to be with us.  I feel like a bad mum at the min and i know im being silly as it will all work out in the long run but i feel guilty like im selfish for wanting another baby.

What programs this? I havent heard about it (dont get much time for tv at the min lol). Setting up the moses basket this week and cleaning the changing mat (been in the loft) and then im sorted at last. Even put hossie bag in the car just in case.

Jess- you normally know with waters, mine were just trickling. I took my pjs off and sat on the bed and there was a little wet patch and i knew i hadnt weed so left it for a bit (was having twinges at this point). Went to the loo and after id finished waters were coming out and you just know your not weeing.

Contractions are like period pains in lower tummy and back (thats how mine were) and they started at every 10 mins. Mine progressed quite fast they get more painful closer together and last longer.

I get backache and im very regular iykwim sometimes 3 times a day which is not like me.  I wonder if my backache is my bowels or not. You can never tell if your going to go into labour but you know when you are lol
