Oooohhh I thought I'd gone into labour last night - really bad cramping across my stomach and then had to go to the loo quite a few times (tmi!!) - which is how labour with Ellie started last time!! Sama again this morning but nothing since - guess she's just moved off my bowel lol!! Overdid it yesterday - finished all my christmas shopping, so gonna stay at home and wash baby stuff and maybe wrap a few prezzies!! xxx19/11/08 10:02
Morning ladies. Can't get used to this being at home lark - good job I have you girls to keep in touch with.
Hey Maria that's fab news - you will get to see your gorgeous son or daughter really soon. I guess its the best thing for them to induce you on friday, especially with the weight baby is already.
I know my birth experience wasn't too good last time I think a lot of little things just made it seem so bad. I have to be honest I am not looking forward to this labour, but hey she has to come out of there somehow. I had really bad period like pains and back ache last night so had a nice soak in the bath. Nothing came of it. I wonder if it is body getting ready. I felt nothing prior to having Liam. Maybe I did a little too much yesterday - went and did Tesco shop (coz I told DH not to do it on monday as family were around) and DH told me off for lugging the bags. I felt like a very naughty girl. So I am having a nice relaxing day today.
Hope interviews go well for your job Sal and they find somebody suitable.

Hope u get someone reasonable Sal - we didn't have a great field for my cover, but at least there is someone which made me feel better lol!! Gonna wrap all the prezzies today... well, maybe not all of them!! xxx18/11/08 22:15

Hi ladies
Nici, thank you for your replies, I am so pleased that I ask you gals as you have helped to prepare me that little bit more ((((BIG HUGS)))). I hope you are enjoying your maternity leave & new found freedom lol! Enjoy the rest, eventhough it is easier said than done as it always takes me a few days to wind down in the hols & by the time I have it's time to go back!! Katie, can't wait to see some pics of your new cut & colour. Hope it all went well
I am getting mine cut tomorrow but will colour it myself at the weekend as grey hair & roots are starting to shimmer at me in the mirror lol!
Hi Maria, glad you are back online & that all is going well. Everything is fine here, I am 36 weeks tomorrow and apart from general tiredness & heartburn I'm good. I do have my new best friend, Gaviscon to help with the heartburn as well!
Well they are interviewing for my maternity cover tomorrow but I don't think the field was that impressive but will let you know how it all pans out tomorrow - yikes! Catch you all later lv Sal xxxxxxxxxxxx18/11/08 16:28
Bit missing off the bottom - only me twittering about how uncomfortable I am.

Hi ladies - hope you are all well. Soz i didn't come back on last night - I arranged for all the family to come down for champagne to celebrate DH's accreditation. Bless him he doesn't like a big fuss.
Right Sal - gonna try and answer a few of your questions.
- First birth experience - woke at 4am on my due date and waters had broken but had meconium in them. Quite funny coz DH was waiting to go loo & was wondering what I was doing he came into toilet saying 'I am bursting for a wee' & I just cried 'Ah it's all green'. Went in straight away and started contracting in the car. I was 5cm by the time I got to hospital. Contractions were constant so they recommended I had an epidural, so had gas and air til that was put in. In total I was in labour for 6hr50min. Liam was delivered by kiwi ventouse as he was back to back. Had to have an episiotomy.
- Tried massaging a bit of olive oil into perinium, but got bored so only did it for a few days.
- Yeah had stitches coz I had episiotomy. Whilst they are cleaning baby they stitch you up. My problems arose afterwards coz unbeknown at the time of birth I had Group B Strep. The infections got into them and broke them down 3 days later (on my bday). Was back in hospital, but didn't want them to redo them as they were so sore. I had high dose antibiotics and healed naturally (since the smear nurse has told me that it was the best thing to do as your body heals better from inside out).
- As above - quite a while for me coz I let it all heal naturally. Probably about 3 months.
- Started breastfeeding but only lasted about two weeks coz I was in sheer agony there and down below. Like hot needles being put in your nips. I even used nipple shields too. MW recommended I stop in the end. Plan to give it another go with this little one & have bought an express as well.
- Routine - erm bath and bed routine happened quite early on, but struggled with the amount of time we could keep Liam asleep at night. Even tried hungry baby food - turned out he was not a good sleeper, but is certainly making up for it now.
- Didn't go to mother and baby groups last time as one of my best friends was on maternity too so we tended to do stuff together. Gonna give them a go this time.
- DH was really supportive of no action in the bedroom for quite a while. I was very nervous about doing it for the first time after stitches debacle. We just took it steady and all was fine just a bit tender the first few times. Life just seems to alter by itself and you end up with new priorities. We hardly went out anyway so that didn't change much at all.
- Like Katie said - You need to be organised to teach full time & juggle life as a mother. I tend to get stuff ready the night before and try to get into the morning routine as quick as possible (with a few test runs before). I try not to bring too much work home with me because I feel work should be done in work and my homelife is separate. I tend to cherish every moment I have with Liam. I was racked with guilt leaving him, but it does get easier. I am hoping to do 4 days when I go back instead of t

Hey ladies, hope you have both enjoyed your first day of maternity leave
Nici, congratulations to DH on his accreditation & to Liam for being such a brave boy on his first day at big school nursery
Katie, glad you got some rest before your itchy feet took you xmas shopping
Hope you got lots done & will enjoy resting & pampering from tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing your new do
Catch you later lv Sal xxxxxxxxxx17/11/08 11:36
So pleased for you Nici - and well done to dh
Maternity leave is great fun - still in pjs watching property programmes lol
Gonna get dressed soon and go and do some christmas shopping!! Have booked my hair cut and colour for tomorrow - wahey!! I hadn't even thought about how it would affect mine and dhs relationship - tiredness sort of takes over anyway!! Catch u later xxx17/11/08 11:16
Hi ladies sorry I haven't been on all weekend. It's been a bit hectic here.
DH PASSED HIS ACCREDITATION

I am so so so happy for him - I knew he could do it. I think he just totally put a downer on himself thinking he couldn't do it. Bless him. I have always had complete faith in him. Bit of celebrating tonight I think - may even go and get a bottle of CHAMPERS to have later.
Well Liam looked so gorgeous going to school today - we were so proud. He was so excited and had his uniform on from 7.45 this morning. He went in with no problems at all (I think the fact he has gone to nursery has helped with the separation thing). Gonna go and pick him up now - but will come back on after to give Sal my perspective to her birthing/motherhood questions.
Hey Katie how is your first day going? Feels kind of strange not having to go into work doesn't it.
Catch ya later.

Katie, Thanks you are a star *
I too won't be b/f when I go back to work so even if it works I will be weaning as early as possible & may even combination feed once b/f is established so that OH can get involved/ease the strain on me being a milking machine/cow lol!
I am prepared for labour to hurt & to keep an open mind on pain relief but wow I am not prepared for such a quick one like yours with Ellie lol (8cm before going to hospital you deserve a medal chick!)
I guess the main thing I am concerned about is how it will affect my relationship. A bit selfish I know but not sure how OH is going to cope with sharing me with lo & also how having a child is going to restrict our life. I freaked out when we got the dog & cat lol! Anyhoo, thank you for helping me out & be warned there will be more lol!!! Have you put your feet up yet? Take care lv Sal xxxx16/11/08 22:19
continued...ESPECIALLY AS THEY START NURSERY AND PICK UP ALL THE BUGS!! I SUPPOSE I GET MYSELF QUITE ORGANISED IN TERMS OF RESOURCES DURING HOLIDAYS, SO THAT I DO GET SOME TIME OFF IN THE WEEK! HAVE NO IDEA HOW I WILL GET 2 KIDS AND ME OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR 730 MIND YOU!!
I wonder if this will actually look right!! x16/11/08 22:18
Lol Sal - I'll have a go, but I can't space it out cos I'm using Safari on a Mac!!
I'll separate with funny faces and answers in capitals!!
What were your first labours like? What pain relief did you use/would you recommend? FIRST LABOUR WASN'T THAT BAD!! WOKE UP AT 7AM AND THOUGHT I HAD A STOMACH BUG - SPENT 3OMINS ON THE LOO AND THEN REALISED I WAS IN LABOUR AS PAINS CONTINUED. BY THE TIME I GOT TO HOSPITAL AT 9AM I WAS 8CM DILATED. HAD ATTACHED A TENS MACHINE BY THIS POINT BUT WOULDN'T HAVE SAID IT DID ANYTHING! COULDN'T STAND HAVING THE GAS AND AIR THING IN MY MOUTH - HAD HALF AN INJECTION OF PETHIDINE WHICH MADE ME DROWSY AND A BIT NAUSEOUS. HAD TO HAVE A SYNTOCIN DRIP TO SPEED UP/MAKE STRONGER MY CONTRACTIONS. ELLIE WAS STUCK ON MY CERVIX AND WAS BACK TO BACK - IF THEY'D WORKED THAT OUT SOONER SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY SPEEDY!! HAD HER AT 4:06PM. THE FINAL PUSHING IS NOT THAT BAD - QUITE PRODUCTIVE BY THAT POINT LOL!!
{BD} Did you try perineal massage? If so did it help? DIDN'T TRY PERINEAL MASSAGE AND HAVEN'T THIS TIME EITHER!
Did you have grazes/stitches? HAD NO STITICHES, BUT HAD SOME GRAZES!
If so what happens afterwards? How long does it take for things to get back to relative normality downstairs!? TO BE HONEST WEEING STINGS - JUG OF WARM WATER AND POUR WHILST YOU WEE HELPS!! DH AND I HAD SEX ABOUT 5 WEEKS LATER - JUST BEFORE MY 6 WEEK CHECK & ALL WAS FINE!!
Did you breast or bottle feed?If you breastfed, how long did it take for milk to come in?Do you have any b/f tips? I BREAST FED TIL ELLIE WAS 12 WEEKS THEN WEANED HER OFF ONTO THE BOTTLE (WELL WITH THE HELP OF SOME VERY GOOD FRIENDS WHO CAME ROUND AND DIDN'T LEAVE UNTIL SHE TOOK THE BOTTLE!!) READY FOR RETURNING TO WORK WHEN ELS WAS 16 WEEKS. MILK COMES IN PRETTY MUCH STRAIGHT AWAY - IT BLOODY HURTS AND FEELS QUITE AWKWARD TO START WITH. I WAS DETERMINED TO PERSEVERE BUT IT WAS NEVER AS EASY AS I HAVE SEEM SOME WOMEN DO IT!! IT TRULY DOES FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE WATERMELONS STUFFFED UP UR BRA ON ABOUT THE 3RD DAY ISH!! THERE IS SOME REALLY GOOD AVENT CREAM WHICH YOU DON'T HAVE TO WASH OFF TO PUT ON UR NIPPLES. :O :O :O How long till you got baby into a routine? GOD - NO IDEA!! A GOOD 6-10 WEEKS I SUPPOSE! ONCE YOU START CONCENTRATING ON WHEN YOU ARE FEEDING IT GETS EASIER. ELLIE WAS A FAIRLY RUBBISH SLEEPER IN THE EARLY WEEKS!!
Did you find mother/baby groups worth the bother? WENT TO THE HEALTH VISITOR LED ONES BUT WOULDN'T SAY THEY WERE ANY MORE USE THAN THE BOOKS I HAD!!
How did having a child affect your relationship + and/or -? WASN'T TOO BAD - I THINK THERE IS SOME READJUSTMENT BUT NOT TO ANY GREAT EXTENT. WE DON'T GO OUT A LOT ANYWAY SO IT DIDN'T AFFECT THAT.
How do you manage to work full time (especially in teaching!) with a child? BY BEING VERY ORGANISED!! BEFORE I WENT BACK TO WORK I HAD ELLIE IN BED BY 7PM WITH A "DREAM FEED" AT 10PM JUST BEFORE I WENT TO BED!! IT'S HARD TO START WITH, ESPECIALLY AS THEY START N16/11/08 20:03
Right, I have come on Internet explorer so that I can space out some of the squillions of questions that I want to ask you gals. So here goes...

How do you manage to work full time (especially in teaching!) with a child?
Honestly, I'm not panicking I just need to know what to expect as I am a control freak lol!!
Oh and feel free to tell me to sod off & not be so nosy lol! lv Sal xxxxxxxxx

Evening ladies, Katie Ellesmere Port is about 5 mins away from here. Hope you had a good day. What is your bouncer like? Today seems to have flown by & not got much done
I will be thinking of you both in the morning when I am getting up for work but I guess you won't be far behind me with Els & Liam. I am currently watching antique's roadshow so I can see what a £1m painting looks like (how sad!!), whilst dyeing things purple in the washer (random I know!) Hope you are enjoying your first Sunday Evening of maternity leave lv Sal xxxxxxxxxx16/11/08 08:39
I have to say this is a strange feeling!! I keep thinking of all the things I need to do today... then realise that I could do them tomorrow cos there's no work!! Was down near Chester yesterday - dh's dad lives in Ellesmere Port so we went for lunch and to collect the baby bouncer!! Still need to pack my hospital bag lol so may do that today, cos if I suddenly "go" dh will bring the most ridiculous things to hospital!! I have my fingers crossed for dh Nici - hope all goes well
Names are such a contentious issue aren't they?! We've been quite lucky - girls names have been really easy to agree on both times... we'd be scupered if we'd have had boys cos neither of us can agree on them!! Catch youse all later
xxx15/11/08 23:10
Nici, glad you had a fab last day & that FH's accreditation went better this time, fingers crossed for the result
Glad you will now be able to rest & spend more time with Liam before lo arrives. I bet he looks so cute in his uniform
Sophie & Amelie are both lovely names & very French so I approve greatly lol! Kids keep asking if i'll give bubs a French or Spanish name but at the mo any name we could vaguely agree on would be nice
Well car went in for service today & I am now £350 lighter with still more work needed in the new year, great
(could get it done sooner but need car to get to hospital as can't get in & out of OH's sporty number at the mo lol!!) I went into Chester whilst it was being done & moved like a snail as pressure down below is quite uncomfortable, I think the rest of shopping for OH's bday & xmas will have to be done online. I have never been this organised before & don't usually start xmas shopping until school term ends lol so it feels a bit strange!! We have been to watch new bond film at the cinema this evening & it was quite good. Just nice to get out for a change but will be catching up on xfactor in the morning! Hope you are having fab evenings lv Sal xxx

OOOO Katie our babies must be tuned into each other. I thought labour was gonna start last night. I half expected to wake in the night with contractions.
The little girlies must be getting us ready.
Bit scary now tho - as it could be any time.
