Just so you know for those of you who like me the ferrus sulphate tablets make sick and constipated (sorry tmi) my doc prescribed me fersamal syrup, doesn't taste too bad and take like a cough syrup, none of the nasty side effects either!! Thought would share my find of the week lol xxx

ornage has vit c and helps your body absorb the iron. milk can hinder the absorbtion. x7/10/08 20:21
ive been given ferrous sulphate and to take one twice daily - she said after meal with a glass or orange juice WHY lol xx

Hi, I've been on ferrous Fumarate from the start as i have pernicious anemia anyway. I was taking 3 a day but it has been dropped down to 1 a day for the past 7 weeks. I have my appointment with MW tomorrow so will have my bloods done then.

I had a phonecall from my docs 2 days after my 28 week bloods taken my iron is low and i have been put on Ferrous Fumerate 210mg 3 times a day I have to have them 4 next 6 weeks and have another blood test then to see what levels are
Don't know if its connected but i have had bad tummy pains for the past week a bit like if i was wearing trousers that were too tight I know this is connected but they have turned my poo dark green nice lol

I saw Selina at my last appointment but have had someone different each time (my mw is on long term sick). I'm assuming it will be Selina agian but not sure.

Lyndsey yes its my 32 week check (although not 32 weeks till sat) but she only seems to do my apps on a wed so the have always been the wed before. Will let you know what she says about how long I have to take them for.

Here is some advice that i was given in my last pregnancy and will be re-doing as i also an anemic again.
last pregnancy i wasn't anemic til late in preg (approx 37 weeks) and the reason i had been fine was that i was eating chocolate - great excuse too lol.
i have hardly touched choc this time around but i think i will have to enjoy myself a little more - plus i deserve the treat.
so i advise you wonderful ladies - anemic or not - to enjoy the occassional bar or two of choccie as it has tons of iron in it and will prevent and also help to resolve any iron deficiency - and its better than those tablets too, tho stil take them, lol.
mmmmm gonna have some choccie soon, drs orders, lol.

Ferrous Sulphate. Have mw again on wed so not sure if she will recheck levels or if I have to keep taking them till lo arrives. Only on second pack and she gave me 4. Have to take 2 tablets a day.

Hi, i've been on ferrous sulphate from about 14 wks, had to take 2 a day, iron ws quite low,,,had a blood test at 26 wks, now down to 1 a day..Constipation was controllable at the beginning, but lately (i'm 31 +3wks) constipated a lot more now,,,trying to eat lots of spinach every day & fruits...gonna get some prunes now...Take care
