to be perfectly honest the price of it depends on condition, miles, service history and spec.
the price of used cars has dropped recently so nows the time to buy as the main dealers start the 'summer deals'
as im a mechanc just make sure the cambelt has been changed at the correct time and that there isnt any clunks from the front end as wishbones are e common fault, not expensive but more of an inconvinience.
good luck and hope all goes well, lew

OOH, THAT LOW FOR THE FOCUS? THATS GREAT! ITS UP AT £2,150 AT THE GARAGE. NO TAX, BUT I THINK IT HAS MOT.
I WILL GO FOR £1,500 INCLUDING TAX. DO YOU RECKON THEY WILL ACCEPT? BE GREAT IF THEY DID. X

hi mate, the astra would be about 1500 and the focus about 1300. ive just got our 'family car' a 1996 escort saloon. our first is due in 9 weeks so it had to be a bigger car, i'd suggest the focus because the astra boot isnt that big.

p.s im using my other halfs account.

vauxhall astra, 1.8i 16v sport. v reg, 128,000 miles black metallic.
ford focus 1.8 lx. s reg, 128,000 miles, metallic green.
i want a focus, other half wants an astra. both are high mileage, so not sure what the price tag should be for them. thanks.

to be honest i wouldnt pay more than 1400 for a s reg focus with that milage.
and for a v reg astra i wouldnt go higher than 2000 but im a tight asz lol
car markets gone way down lately, you can haggle a really good deal
