Thank you for the info on the forum, i will definately look that up.

She is being treated at the norfolk and norwich hospital.

She seems a lot more settled in the harness that she was before which is really weird!

    Hiya,

Minimarshall sorry that your lo has to wear a harness,it must be so upsetting but your lo has such a good chance of having things corrected and not needing further treatment,

I don't know if you've already heard of them but their is a charity for children with lower limb deficincies called Steps.I found them an absolute godsend when Mia was going through her treatment. They have a forum specifically for CDH(congenital hip dysplasia)and you can talk with other parents and get really useful tips and support.

    www.steps-charity.org.uk

Where is your lo being treated at? my Dd is under Proffessor Clarke at Southampton and he is just fantastic, can't speak of him highly enough for what he did for my little girl.

Good luck to all those having scans.

Oh before I forget Bogie just wanted to say that it's more common that it's the left leg that is affected and I've only ever heard of a couple of children who have had their right unless they have bilateral(both sides)like Mia did.

minimarshall im sorry to hear that your baby girl has to wear a harness, its good tho that it gets sorted there seems a lot of kids that go unoticed and have probz later on which is a lot harder.

Ill be pleased to get her scan over with

Thanks ladies and pp i think your right it sounds the same as your bubs, i think she is ok and just still likes to lie like it lol i call her my little froggy sometimes her right hip looks really high when she does it it looks very unatural! but i suppose they like it lol!

    Hi Hun,

Just wanted to let you know that my DS used to sit with his legs just as you are discribing but he does not have clicky hip just took him a little while to relax his legs, I also had the problem with his left leg not sitting right for a while but this has gone normal now to so it may just be that your LO is taking their time to relax out of the fetal position.

I was born with clicky hip so it was possible for my babies to have it but none of them have.  Mine plays up every now and then and comes out of place but invariably it just goes back again.

Hope it all goes well for you.

    S xx

Hey good luck for the scan. oliver had his hip scan at 5 weeks as he was breech also. we have to go back on 15th sept for another scan as his right hip was showing immaturity, what ever that means. she did say that its nothing to worry about and should correct itself.

    Hi all

I had a letter yesterday the hospital cancelled it until next friday! i phoned them and they said the ady that does this type of scan in the childrens assesment centre only does them on fridays and she is signed of sick! now we have to wait unitl next friday I told them it better happen as it says it should be done between 4 and 6 weeks and she will be nearly 8 weeks.

Im sometimes not sure about her right leg she still lays with breech legs and doesnt straighten that one as well as the other but i suppose you cant really tell.

I really wanted it over with! I know its routine but I wanna know her hips r ok she was extended breech for the whole the few months it is a risk that there may be a prob!!! i feel a bit over the top today cuz im tired lol.

Ps thanks Hellie 2 for thinking of us xxxx

My LO was breech as well and had to have a hip scan.  We went to the same place where I had my pregnancy scans.  They put the same gel stuff on him that they do pregnant ladies and just checked both his hips.  He laid on a table while they did it and I was right next to him.  Results came back normal a few weeks later.

    Hi

thanks so much for your replys, i think we are lucky to get the scan after reading some of your stories.

If there is a problem it will be treated early, hopefully she is ok, her feet were by her head while i was pregnant from about 29 weeks, she never went head down so must put a strain on those little hips.

Ill do a post to let you know how it goes next friday, thanks all

I was born with a dislocated hip but the doctors did not pick it up till i was 5.When i had my little boy a week ago i asked the doctor if he could have extra checks on his.So they are booking him in for a scan i don't want my baby going through what i did.

    Hiya,

My mum and my middle Dd both had the condition that your lo is being scanned for, they had both both left and right hip completely dislocated. My Dd wasn't picked up until she was 20 months old by which time her problems were very severe and she had to undergo a few operations and had to wear a bodycast for months on end.If this is picked up early enough then there is a very very good chance that a harness will help sort the problems out.

I had my 3rd Dd 3 weeks ago and because it can be hereditory she had to have a hip scan.I was so frightened as was told we had 30  % chance she could have it.We were only in the room for 5 mins, consultant put gel on her hip and scanned, they are both absolutely fine she didn't cry at all,I did with relief lol!

Most of the time there is no problem but it is so good that lo's are being put forward for scans as this is the only way to know for sure.I can't stress enough that early detection is so important!

Hope it all goes ok,let us know how you get on

My DD has the dislocating hip - it was picked up at six weeks and she now wears a brace so even if it does come to that - be reassured its nothing to worry about once you've got used to it - it doesn't bother her at all. I'm sure you'll be fine tho cause the hip thing israre (about 1/1000). Its good they are checking - i wasn't offered the scan just cause she was breech - i was just lucky the GP picked it up!

Thanks everyone, i hope she is ok but like one of u said its easily sorted for them if not, she still puts her legs out like a frog and stays like it all the time while sleeping but does stretch out and move ok i think she just likes laying like it, she is my third and my others dident do it that bad it must be a breech thing.

    Thanks again

you dont have anything to worry about hun, Dylan had his 2 weeks ago.

They told me to take his clothes and nappy off and lay him on the bed then a man came in and put some gel on a thing? (same thing used on our tummys at our scans) and it showed up on the screen, then he wiggled his hips a little bit and said everything was fine And to top it off Dylan wee'd all over the place - bed, nurse, doctor, df/daddy but he missed me

Sorry if that didnt make sence, i cant explain it any better
