my health visitor showed me a way of holding him called tiger in a tree position he basically lays accross your hand arm looking down on his belly ie laying on his tummy on your arm and head is one side of your elbow and his arm the other your hand can hold him between the legs and the free arm you can rub his lower back he loves this and it helps him trump like a trouper and think its comfortable on his belly, you could try this? or if easier lay them on their tummy with head to the side and gentally rub their lower back this may help, mine fell asleep last time! so cute!

Sounds like your LO has colic or trapped wind. You could try a warm bath, rub their back or tummy, gripe water (they can use that from 4wks from what i remember).
