not the most comfy thing to do but works if hands are really sore and cracked - put thick layer of cream or vasaline on hands and put disposable gloves on (can get a box of 30 pairs from most pound shops) leave on overnight.

    xx

God yeah my hands are awful at the moment. I have never suffered with dry skin on my hands but they are really dry and sore now and i have the beginnings of cracks on my forefinger.

I cant wear gloves. Dunno why, just never been able to operate properly with them on! lol

I have developed a bit of an obsession with washing my hands all the time as i am always worried that they are not clean enough. Any time i put hand cream on its washed off 2 mins later so i tend to give up putting it on the day and just slather loads on before bed.

marigolds or a wax-based barrier cream should help. I keep a pot of atrixo by both sinks so that I can put cream on everytime after I wash my hands.

I have exactly the same trouble. My lo was in special care & the alcohol rub really took its toll. Now we are home I've started using Nivea which I find really good. My other half gets really dry hands in the winter as he works outside & uses Neutrogena Norwegian Hand Cream but when I used it my hands started to burn! You could try that as I'm obviously allergic to some of the ingredients & it works wonders for him.

Is anyone else suffering from sore cracked hands due to constantly washing their hands? I have dry sensitive skin at the best of times, but washing my hands after every nappy change and before each feed is really taking its toll. I've tried using vaseline, E45 and have even broken out my trusty old steroid cream but nothing is helping. Any suggestions?
