Thank u all for your replies. MalibuStacie, would you think it is ok for me to do the step class then and the stretches at the end and just skip out on the sit ups and press ups? Thanks.

At six weeks crunches are not fine, infact physiotherapists dont recommend crunches at all for post natal excercise as your rectus abdominus muscles never actually fuse back together properly and majority of women are left with a 1 finger width gap between their tummy muscles.
The hormone relaxin is still present in your body up until 12 weeks post natal and no hard muscular work out should be done until then. Cardio is fine, yoga and pilates.
Thats my advice, and i say better to be safe than sorry

Should be fine. This time i've not had a chance but i went to the gym before delivering and after my son was born and it was fine. At 6weeks crunches are fine!

I don't have any advice, but have you had your 6 week check-up yet? If not, then ask your doctor about when is the best time to start exercising. x

My lo is 6 weeks old and I am planning on going back to a step class that I went to before I was pregnant. Now I feel fine to do the actual exercise but at the end of the class they spend about 10 minutes doing sit ups, press ups and things like that and I am unsure if I am ok to do these now? Or should I wait longer? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Absolutely, guess that falls into cardio, id skip the rest for the next 6 weeks
