ohh sorry forgot to say, proud mummy made alfie tea tonight and he ate it all.mmmmmmmmm it did taste good tho! lol. so biased.

i made him salmon poached in fullfat milk, then i whizzed the salmon with some potato, cheese and milk.  He loved it.  He has lots of portion in the freezer now too, i also made for the freezer sweetpotato and cinnamon, and roasted red pepper and potato.  I had to make it as i had run out of jars and did not want to buy anymore.  I have a good book with lots of recepies in, annabel karmen.

yay well done brock.  Thats it keep your mummy busy!!

sequin good luck with your dentist work, i had root canal and crown done a few years back, i didnt have to pay either as it was after i had harry.hehe.  It would cost a fortune if you had to pay.

It was really strange when i felt alfies tooth, i was not expecting his first tooth  to come out from the top gums.  For the last week when he has woke in the night i have been putting bonjela on his bottom gums only and i was getting it wrong sorry alfie!  He has not really made a fuss at all, has not been anymore grumpy just lots more nappies!!!

Sequin i am going to send some baby dust for george because it seemed to work when it was sent to alfie!!!

Hello there everyone today is a goooooood day.

Well, Brock is still moaning away , however..................... he's mastered the art of crawling!! Yay! after two weeks of rocking on his hands and kness yesterday he took a few shuffles forward, and today he's managed to get from one end of our large rug in the living room to the other without stopping. Proper crawling too!! On his hands and knees, (last week he was sort of slithering/ wriggling) but he's finally got it. Won't be long before I'll have to run after him to catch him.

    How's everyone else??

*sob* wish Brock hated eating with his hands lol. he'd rather dip his hands in the bowl and suck his fingers to death, whilst gagging because he's stuffed them too far down his throat. He loves to be in control, which is why when I gave him weetabix and he cried, I offered him toast and he ate a good 2 thirds of it. I just think he likes being messy.

Yeh right! I just don't want her to become a fussy eater, like I was. So she WILL eat whatever's put in front of her lol

On the downside, it's taken a bit longer than I would have liked to get her to eat anything with the slightest lump in. Until a couple of weeks ago everything really needed to be totally sieved. Even lumpy porridge was spat out. And she won't abide finger foods, probably takes after me, I hate eating anything with my hands!

I have been quite tough on that, if she won't finish dinner she doesn't get an alternative or pudding. I give it a couple of minutes, walk away or let her play with something and then we try again, and she does finish it. I;ve always done it that way, so I think she's picked up that she only gets a pudding if she finishes her meal. That said I try and introduce new flavours at lunch, so she never goes to bed hungry or with a tummy ache if anything disagrees (or if she really doesn't like anything first time round!).

I know what you mean, I too worry about them getting bad habits knowing if they kick off they will get something else but also want him to keep gaining weight....

Popped into Boots this afternoon and got some of the organic stock cubes as the heinz stock is quite expensive, also picked up some pasta stars as I couldnt find any in tescos.

Have any of you been on that martin lewis's website, he has got loads of coupons you can print off, I have printed off the 30% off at Gap, plus when we went out to lunch at pizza hut my friend had printed off a 50% off the bill voucher and it was a right bargain! Gotta be work a look!

This is what i've been thinking about, Brock will refuse to eat after having taken so much of a certain meal, however if I was to offer a pud, I know he'd take it.

I don't know if offering him something else would teach him bad habits, but like mummybourne said, i'm worried about his weight, so as long as I offer him something I see as healthy then at least he's getting something. It's ard though. You don't want to teach them that they can refuse food and get what theywant, but you don't want them to lose weight.

When I first started weaning I didin't offer anything after if he refused, but now I do, but only if he takes at least half of what i'm offering. And then I make sure it's a pureed fruit salad or banana or steamed pear. Never gets a petits filous if he hasn't ate enough lol.

I'm still conscious of him gaining weight so try to force him to eat more, if he refuses I try to get him to have a healthy pud like a mashed banana or something. Probably getting him into bad habits of knowing that he just has to wait for something nicer as he'll always eat pud but hey ho! sometimes I don't blame him for not eating the main as they aren't always that appertising especially the pureed roast I still have in the freezer, that's just like mashed stodge lol

Well the water worked so thanks.... hmpf didnt make him want to eat it though, had about 4 spoonfuls, guess it is better than nothing!

When you are trying new foods with your LO's, if they turn their nose up do you offer an alternative or go straight to pud, or dont offer anything more?

Only the larger boots do the baby organic stock cubes. I've got some and they do make things taste quite nice, better than just water anyway.

I think you can get them in Boots. However, I boil up chicken and veg, that makes meals you can freeze for LO and any leftover liquid you can freeze as stock, that's all it is really.

I normally add a little cooled boiled water too, or like catnkitten said baby gravy, but i've also heard you can get baby chicken stock cubes?? I will be hunting round the supermarket on Friday for these lol just to see if they're any good.

zzzzzzz... just kidding, i stayed awake lol

When you give Brock solids, does he end up turning away to indicate he's full? Probably stating the obvious, but do you check he's still hungry? I rub my knuckle to the side of LO's mouth when we finish eating - if she turns towards and tries to eat it, she's still hungry, if she turns away or ignores me she's full. That way we can see if she needs anything else. Some nights we think she's full, then she does random things like wolf down a whole tin of pudding! Worth a shot anyway...!

To make whizzed up foods less thick, you can either use the baby gravies, or generally I just use some cooled boiled water (or tap water if you want to make it cooler too). You can add it either before or after freezing.
