I used to give my ds a dreamfeed at 11pm until he was over 5mths - I didnt wake him though - I used to just go in his room and push the door over so there was just enough light that I could see what I was doing. I just picked him out of his cot in his sleeping bag and he would open his mouth for the bottle without fully waking. I would then just sit him up for a minute, cuddling him to get his wind up but didnt really pat him. I dropped the feed when he started not wanting his 7am bottle.
The waking in the night might be more to do with the dummy than the dreamfeed
There is a thread on here called 'wish me luck Im ditching the dummy' where we were all in the situation where our lo's were waking numerous times in the night just for the dummy and didnt know how to settle back off without it so because it got worse and for some of us - to the point we were getting up 10-15times a night! we all went cold turkey with the dummy!! It works surprisingly quickly and my lo slept through on the 2nd night!!!If you think the dummy is the issue and want some advice go on the thread - the girls on there are lovely!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

hi there
my lo is just 6 months and i dropped the 11pm feed for the first time last night.
she had been waking too, but not from hunger.
she is now on 3 meals a day and 3 bottles and i took the plunge and left her to sleep last night as i always feel rotten waking her from such a deep sleep......and hey presto, she didnt wake until 6.20am
fingers crossed for the same tonight!
hope this helps and good luck for when you do decide to take the plunge too!

hi, i also tried this dreamfeed at 1030/11 after putting him to bed at 7pm and he just woke up at 1am or so, i tried not giving him this dreamfeed and the first night he woke at 12 - i put dummy in and he went back to sleep, next night did not wake up until 3am, next night, 4am and next almost 6am - it seemed the dreamfeed did not work for us. Worth a try..

hello, my son goes to bed at 7pm, i then wake him at 11pm for a feed. when should i stop doing this? he is 17 weeks and still doesnt sleep through, wakes up at 3am every night then 4am 5am and wakes up at 6am and wont go back to sleep. i refuse point blank to feed him in the night as i know he isnt hungry.
when do we drop the 11pm feed?

We dropped that feed when he was about 9 weeks old. It just never worked for us. As soon as we did, he started sleeping longer. Now, he eats at 8pm and sleeps til at least 5am and has started sleeping closer to 7am recently.
