i use a combination of three real nappies:

    - baby beehinds (16 nappies): shaped birth-to-potty bamboo nappies for routine daily use. Brilliant fit, very absorbent, slimline for a cloth nappy but slightly longer to dry (as they are so absorbent)

    - totsbots fluffles (5 nappies): shaped Size 1/ 2 microfleece nappies for nights. Very cute and quick to dry (practically dry out of the spin cycle) and very absorbent but very bulky so not great for use under clothes

    - ella's house cotton/hemp (4 nappies): shaped size 1 cotton/hemp nappies. Smaller than the BBs so better under clothes when LO was small but not as absorbent (which makes sense as there's less fabric). I tend to use these when out and about as they take up less space in the changing bag than the BBs

I use the motherease airflow wraps and a combination of disposable and fleece liners (moving more to fleece especially as winter approaches)

I *love* real nappies and they really are not only eco-friendlier but also so much better value in the long run- I've not scrimped on my set-up but my entire outlay is only about £300- about 6 months worth of pampers- and I can still use the nappies for a second child for greater savings!!

Thanks for that link!  Just found my local council on it who've started a new incentive.

As an afterthought! theres's a pretty comprehensive list of Nappy Incentives here, if you're not sure what your council offers

Have you thought about pocket nappies? The one I would recommend above all others is the p'tits dessous mini-maxi onesize pocket, as it has by far the best adjustment range of any birth to potty nappy I've found. Comes in some lovely colours, and is popper fastening (I hate velcro!)

Evie Connolly, where abouts are you? I accept vouchers from several councils now, so you don't have to stick to the pitiful selection offered on most high streets. I stock a pretty good  range, (but only trialed and approved nappies!) but can also order pretty well any nappy on the market if you want it, so if your voucher scheme is limiting you, please PM me! I may be able to help!

Ooh.  I love my real nappies.  We have the BumGenius birth to potty training nappies and so far they are working great.  Washing them isn't even as big a deal as I thought it would be, although stuffing the pockets can be a pain in the arse.  Luckily I got delivered two lots instead of one, so I can be lazy with regards to the stuffing and leave it a few days.

I use them and find them ok, we always run out of the wrappers as the poo seems to get onto it easily..but that could be the fold we use..but apart from that I find them great!

I've ended up going for Bambino Mio, because our local baby shop is useless and thats all they stock.  Its the only place within about 30 miles that accepts the vouchers, so I didnt have much choice really. I'll give them a try for a couple of weeks, and if they're no good, I'll probably sell them, and try something else.

Has anybody used Bambino Mio? Are they any good?

Hi, I use little lamb nappies, they are great, have used them from birth & my son is now 6m.  They fasten with velcro so are easy to use & you can buy them in cotton, (cheapest), bamboo (slimmest, more absorbant & more environmentally friendly) or microfibre ( quickest to dry).

I got a birth to potty kit in bamboo from their website but have noticed you can buy them second hand in nappy shops & on line ( check out the eco friendly parenting forum on bounty).

My son hasn't had any nappy rash & we've had no poo leaks ( which we have had on the odd occasion using disposables.  Good luck xx

I use prefolds, mainly cotton bottoms!  They dry in under 24 hours indoors!  I think they're really good and cheaper than most reuseables!  I also save extra money by using washable liners and wipes!

i use motherease sandys nappy in bamboo, they are fab, really absorbant and compact. i use the motherease airflow wraps. both are popper fastening, really adjustable. the bamboo does take a bit longer to dry as so absorbant but i just put them over a warm radiator and they dry much more quickly.

We used the LIFE nappies that we got of the council for abit... but we dont anymore Itried them when ds was 2ths old and they rubbed round his tum and were so huge he wouldn't fit into his clothes properly and when i put him down for a nap i lifted him up and he was soaked from head to toe... we havn't used them since and im dissapointed because i genuinly believed in them but was really upset to find him in that state. Will try again with them soon when hes bigger xxx

    I have a questionEvieConnolly

    Hiya,

I've just phoned my local council, and they're sending me a voucher for £45 towards some real nappies.  I used the Mothercare nappies when Kiernan was a couple of months old, but didnt really like them.  They didnt seem to fit him very well, cos he's a big boy.  I was just wondering if anybody could recommend any decent ones.  Mum said why not try the old fashioned towelling squares she used with all of us, but they look far too fiddly. I need something easy to use (kiernans a wriggler) that dries easily.  What's the best ones to use, and what should I stay away from?

    Thanks
