It sounds fine to me, they're using so much energy at this age! One thing with the night waking - could it be the start of teething discomfort rather than hunger? My LO started doing this and a friend recommended trying a little teething gel; it worked a treat. xx

My lo is 20 weeks old and I had to give him baby rice at 17 weeks as he began waking in the night. The week after I gave him lunch and the following week tea. That seemed to work, but now he has started to wake again. My mum made a good point that although I was feeding him pear puree and such, it wasn't being mixed with baby rice or sweet potato (something bulky). I'm goign to try some milk for hungrier babies too. I was breastfeeding, but advised to add a bottle as he wasn't putting much weight on. I now only feed him int he mornings and he is bottlefed the rest of the time.
7.30 wake and breastfed
8am Breakfast
11am Bottle
11.30 - 12 Nap (although sometimes this is before his bottle)
1.30 Bottle and Lunch
2 - 5 Nap
5 Bottle
6 Tea
7 Bath and in bed by 8

I know how you feel, my family keep saying to us how chunky her thighs are - it makes you paranoid that your'e overfeeding but i'd rather her be chubby than a skinny little thing!
I'm no expert but if i was me i'd try a dreamfeed first, as if she's not having a full bottle before bed she might need that little top-up to see her through til morning.

thanks, yes i might try a dream feed tonight then. even if she only took a bit it might keep her goin til about 6 or 7 when i wouldnt mind bein woken up! i was considering this but i was worried about over feeding her! everybody keeps saying to me shes a big girl! do u think i sould try a dream feed rather than giving her a third meal at lunch time? x

Hi Laura,
sounds like you've got a good routine during the day- my dd is so unpredictable during the day, sometimes she'll sleep for a couple of hours at each nap time & then other times for only half hour, but come night time she is perfect ( keeping fingers crossed she stays like it) she usually has her bottle at 6.30 -7ish & then we do a dreamfeed at about 10.30-11ish, she still occasionally wakes up at 4ish but she usually drops off again if we don't go rushing in, so i would maybe try a dreamfeed & then she might go to 7ish like my dd (20wks) my dd weighed 9lb at birth & 3 wks ago she weighed 16lb.9oz, she too is chubby but aren't all babies until they can crawl?
oh, & she's been having food for quite a few weeks now,
hth, Rachael

hiya im laura and my dd is 19weeks old. She is bottlefed and up until about 5 weeks ago she slept through the night having las feed at about 8.30 and waking about 6 for a feed. at 15weeks she started waking in the night again for feed sometimes usualy 3 or 4 o clock so at 16weeks i started giving her a small portion of baby rice with her breakfast bottle at about 10 o clock she was settled back to her old rountine but then started waking againg so after 2 weeks i gave her more baby food at tea time about 5 o clock so she's on 2 meals a day but is un settled in night again and fort the past week been waking at 4 again for a bottle! I put 7oz in her bottles but she rarely takes it all.Her routine at moment is -
4-5 o clock- 5oz milk (goes straight back to sleep on it until about

9.00-9.30 o clock- small bowl of baby breakfast and 5-6oz milk (shortly after feed has morning sleep in cot for about 1hr)
1.00 o clock -bottle milk 7oz (shortly after has afternoon sleep again about 1 hr)
5.00 o clock- small baby food dinner and 4-5oz milk
7-7.30 o clock has bath and bottle( takes anything from 2oz-5oz!) and straight to bed as she falls to sleep on this feed.
Can anyone tell me if this seems fine or anything i could do so she wouldnt wake for that feed in very early morning? should i increase food or anything? or is she overfed?
She was 7lb 6 oz when born and now at 19weeks weighs about 16-17lb so she is a little chubby!
any help oradvice would be great thanks xxx

hi thanks for advice and comments so far. Yes thats a good point i think it may be the start of teething as she is constanly red cheeked and dribbling loads and always trying to chew everything! i put her down for bed at 7 tonight as she was really tired and she only took about 3 oz so im goin to do a dream feed before i go to bed tonight and see if she sleeps any better. will post tomoro to let u know. Need a good full nights sleep! shes in our room aswell so i feel like im awake all night as i wake at every movement she makes! We only have a 2 bed house and my other daughter whos 5 is in other room so i carnt put baby in there until she sleeps through better as my 5 year old has to be up for school in the morning! x
