My lo is 6 months now. I posted a few weeks ago to say that he had started sleeping for 2 hours in the afternoons and I thought it was bliss. It only lasted for 5 days though. Now he's back to his 20-30 min naps, usually 3 times a day. I know how you feel, you can't get anything done during their power naps. He still wakes during the night too, sometimes twice, sometimes once. I really appreciate the nights he only wakes at 5am then goes back to sleep til 8ish. I thought things would have started to get easier by 6 months! -

WOW Babyd321 that is amazing, as long as she is sleeping so well at night I wouldnt worry about that the day naps are too long, maybe she just needs alot of sleep, you are so lucky! I am not complaining as she does well at night its just a bit annoying that they only last 20 mins or so, which gives you no time to get anything done, she also can only last about 2 1/2 hours before needing a sleep, the other day she was awake 3 hours as people were round and she was SOOO tired haha
Its good to read the comments, seems its quite normal, im tempted to try just leaving her to cry in her cot in the day once she gets to 6 months as she shouldnt really need a night feed by then, its just habit i think..? thanks for all the comments!

Wow you ladies are very lucky....my ds is 5 mths old and is still not sleeping thru. He is capable of waking up 4/5 times during the night. during the day the most he can sleep is an hour or so then wake up. I would give an arm and a leg to have him sleep from 8 to 8. Your lo is probably well rested such that during the day they might not need so much sleep. -

Hiya, I'm exactly the same. At about 8 weeks my little boy fell asleep at 8 for the night and wakes up once in the night for a feed. He goes to sleep all by himself in his cot- perfect EXCEPT his day time naps. Has to be either bounced in a bouncy chair, or rocked in a swing or in the buggy or car. He has 30 minute naps every 2 and a half hours. He never sleeps anymore or less. You could set your watch by him. I'm just hoping that as he taught himself the good habit of going to bed at 8 and sleeping through that when he's older he'll sort his day naps out. Until then I always bring his little bouncy chair with me wherever I go

My lo is exactly the same and she'll be 22 weeks tomorrow. She goes to bed at 8.30pm and wakes around 8-9am, almost always sleeps through the whole night but during the day it's a different story! She will only sleep on me, and only for about 40 mins at a time. I've tried her in her travel cot, bouncer, pram...nothing works. Occasionally she will sleep in her pram if we're out but most of the time she's too nosey. I said to myself this week I'd leave her to cry so she'd get used to sleeping in her cot downstairs during this day, but she's been so bad with her teeth recently I couldn't bare to see her cry xx -

Hiya
I am new on here and thought I would ask how everyone else's babies sleep during the day? My Daughter is 5 months and sleeps quite well at night, she goes down at 7pm every night after bath and bottle and will either sleep through until 6/7am or wake at around 2am and have a bottle, it depends on how she has fed during the day, but will go straight back down to sleep. However, her day sleeps are terrible, she only takes like 20minute catnaps and for this she will not go off on her own, I either have to rock her in the buggy or go out for a drive or something! Its weird coz at night we put her down awake and she goes off by herself and if she wakes in the night she sends herself back off, but in the day if i put her in the cot or pram and dont rock her she just will not go! I feel as though I shouldnt be rocking/pushing her to sleep at 5 months..? Does anyone else still have to do this? and when she does go to sleep she only sleeps for a little while, she has never slept longer than an hour in the day!

Hi all,
My lo is 20 weeks and is breastfed. He goes to bed at around 8pm and sucks for up to an hour before he is fast asleep. Then he wakes every 2 hours or if its a bad night it will be hourly. We have these in equal measures throughout a week. In the day he sleeps every 2 hours sometimes more. He won't ever let me put him down, he only ever sleeps if he is feeding or being pushed in the pram, I cant even rock him to sleep as he just wants to suckle. It doesn't bother me, I've just decided to go with it until I decide I can't cope anymore, but to be honest I enjoy it this way. I didn't mention, we are co-sleeping and have done since birth. We had a traumatic birth so he's been a fretful little boy and just needs to be close to me. I don't get much done in the house but that's okay. I don't know what he'll be like when I go back to work, he won't be ready. I may have to leave and end up paying back my maternity pay.
Steph.
