Thought we were the only ones not crawling or showing interest in walking! Mine is 9.5 months too and isn't interested in standing. He will put weight on his legs for a few seconds but isn't really bothered and just sits back down again. He can't get up from lying down and although he can get into a crawling position he doesn't know what to do with it and just sits back down again. If one more person says - "isn't he crawling yet?" -  I will stab them!

Well, we went to the docs & he said not to worry, some babies just take their time. He said that if there was a problem then he would be trying to pull himself up the colapsing. Wants to see him after he's one. Suppose my HV was just covering herslef incase there is something wrong.

My lo is 10 months and not weight-bearing.  My mum keeps worrying me about it but the hv said wait and see at closer to 11 months and then we'll see a doctor if she's still not doing it.  When I pull her up, she takes her legs up with her in a seat position like she's trying to fold herself up!  She can sit perfectly well and crawl really fast so seems to be developing otherwise but I do find it odd.

Theres no harm in doing a bit of practice with lo, but please don't worry yourself about it. Sometimes these health visitors have a lot to answer for! (No offence to any health visitors on here).  xx

Yeh she can sit unaided all afternoon and play with her toys, thats maybe 2 hrs after her nap and b4 tea!!! but as shes sittin and having fun she wont lay down and play, which I want as it gets her rolling around. Maybe I should start gettin her to practice standing abit more, or shall I just leave her and see how she gets on? Im worried now after reading this thread!!!

I  don't think you should be concerned, my lo started crawling at around ten months.  She could sit up earlier, (not sure when, but I think around 7 or 8 months ish) but I did loads of practice with her by propping her up with my nursing pillow.  I did that because she'd grown out of her car seat seat, and she couldn't sit for more than a few seconds. (She needed to be able to sit for 20 mins.) The practice really did help her as she was able to sit up for over 20 mins in 2 weeks.  I really wouldn't worry about it though, these little ones go at their own pace.  I know its so difficult not to compare with others though, I'm guilty of doing that too, although I have got better about not doing that now. xx

    I have a questionEllensMummy55

Hey my lo is 8.5 months and not weight bearing, she did stand for a little while with me holding her waist but she wont do it anymore!! she just wont put her legs down, should I be worried?? She also has no interest in crawling, and at what age can they manage to get up into sitting position from laying down, because she cant do that either, all she can do is sit unaided and roll around and onto her belly and back again. Should I be concerned?? xx

Hi there.  Mine is 8.5 months and has only been bearing weight (with me holding his hands) for the last couple of weeks.  I only started doing it because the HV asked if he was weight bearing at his 7 month check, and he hadn't been.  I don't think I was giving him the opportunity to do it!  So I stared doing it every day, first on my lap and then next to the sofa so he could hold on.  He can now come up to standing if I hold his hands and stand over him.  I also made a lot of happy faces and cheered a lot once he was up, which I think helps!

He does not even want to weight bear when supported by us he just kicks his legs out but he does get from the sitting position into comando crawling position & is always rolling over everwhere. He also manages to move his walker around abit & goes in a activity station thingy.

DS1 didn't start crawling untill he was 8 months and as for standing and cruising it was probably 10-11 months, he took his first dodgy steps at 1 yr, DS2 on the other hand has been crawling since 6 months and cruising since 7 months. Try not to worry, the HV's have a lot to answer for sometimes it's worrying enough just getting through a week sometimes without added stresses from them. If LO is happy and healthy and getting a hold of what he needs by rolling and crawling then he isn't going to be in a hurry to expend any extra energy.

The only reason DS2 is stomping on is because he is frightened he might be missing out so is competeing with his big bro, DS1 on the otherhand had nothing to jolly him on so didn't rush to get mobile.

Wait and see what the Dr. says or give the HV another call and ask her to explain her thoughts and actions so as you know whats going on fully.hth,xk

Just noticed your lo is 9.5 months, still don't see why its a problem though. Does the hv mean weight bearing whilst supporting lo when standing, or lo standing independently? xx

6 months?  That doesn't sound right to me.  Not sure how old lo was when she started bearing weight on her feet, but it was more than 6 months.  Possibly 7, maybe even 8 months.  I know it wasn't 6 months though.  They are all different and some start weight bearing earlier and some later.  I can't see why not weight bearing at 6 months would be any cause for alarm? xx

I know I'm cheeky because I haven't been on for ages & now I'm back with a question.

Took Alfie to be weighed on Thursday as we haven't been for a couple of months due to me getting stressed with him not puttin much weight on & going back to work.

Mentioned to the HV that he's not weight bearing yet & she was shocked as they should be doing it by 6 months & she said she was going to refer him for physio. Got home from work tonight & she phoned to say we should see a doctor first as she wants to rule out a medical condition before refering for physio. As you can imagine am worried sick now. Anyone else this age not weight bearing ?
