Hi, my ds has just turned 8 months and your post about all that your lo eats at this age has really impressed me as I have been such a wuss at giving him finger foods and I know he is ready and don't want to hold him back any longer. I tried him on them when he was just over 6 months for a few weeks but he just crammed the whole lot in and gagged and choked, I braved it a for a while but after a scarey what seemed like a choking incident I stopped and went back to making his food lumpier and just giving him tiny bits of food...I started again this week with just rusks, bits of banana etc and he is doing much better, he now hates being fed by a spoon so I really need to get him eating more varied finger food as meals with spoons are getting harder and harder!!! but I still find that he takes huge bites and has his mouth crammed full of food which scares the hell out of me but of course if I try and take some out it just winds him up and I know I need to let him get on with it, but I mentioned this to the hv and she said nothing....so this is long winded but worrying me a bit! do you just leave them to get on with it when they put so much in their mouth? thank you for your help! xx6/9/08 10:38

Hello my lo is 11months and is going through a stage of only freally liking to eat finger foods. Any suggestions on what to give her. She has, mini sandwiches, banana, fruit, cheese, fishfingers, birds eye shapes with veg in them, cheese straws. Also do any of your lo s feed themselves with a spoon, as i may also try to encourage this soon as shes forever trying to grab the spoon. Even if i give her something to hold she often drops that to get the spoon lol
