Thanks everyone. I think my MIL disapproves because her step daughter took her child to a nightclub on holidays until silly a clock in the morning! Apparently she slept by the speakers - nice!

We went to Newquay when my lo was 10 months and basically did what you said. I'd give her her dinner normal time then we would go out for the evening. When she became sleepy bit later than normal as out and about myself dp or my dad would go for a walk around the block to settle her then return for food!. Some nights she just didn't want to sleep and was quite happy just watching everyone and dont know if sea air but the min she was put in travelcot she'd go out like a light!.

I'd say to anyone relax and let any routine go out of window it's only for a short time you'll have a great time!

I really don't see why anything you've written should be a problem.  It may take your lo a couple of days to get used to his new surroundings, but he'll be okay.  A tip is to take a blanket or suchlike with you that's already on his cot (ie used~) - it'll have his scent on it and so will comfort him.

We took our two to Canary Islands in July - Oliver was 31/2 & Joe was 6 months at the time  It took Joe about 3 days to settle (heat was a problem) but after that he was fantastic... we tended to give him his evening meal with us about 7.30 and then he was quite happy to sit in his buggy and watch the world go by... falling asleep when he wanted to... we gave him his bottle when we got back to the apartment and he went to bed, no probs at all... in order to give him his evening meal a little later, he has breakfast & lunch a little later than normal, and made sure he had an afternoon bottle aswell.

Don't worry about your MIL - what does she expect you to do?  Stay in the room from 7pm?  You may aswell stay at home!

Also don't worry about lo's routine when you get back... make sure you start it again and he'll slot back into it no problem.

hth and have a nice time (I'd say relax, but easier said than done with a lo!!

    Hi

We're taking our LO on holiday in October. He will be 11 months. It is just to a holiday park in Dorset (Sun £9.50!)

Anyway we always put him to bed around 7pm and have never really been anywhere with him later than that or if we have then its been on the way home or in his travel cot at a friends house. However when we go on hols we would like to go for a meal etc in the family bar. Is it ok for LO to sleep in his pram while we eat out - only to about 10pm or so? I just don't think it would be much of a holiday if we stayed in every night! He is in an excellent routine at home but surely 4 nights away shouldn't be a problem?

I'm just wondering what anyone else does as my MIL frowned when I told her thats what we might do.

    Thanks
