Hi darling, you'll be fine! Don't worry about tflying is the main thing!
You can take milk but they will ask you to test it - all you have to do is shake a little out of the teat in to yuor mouth! You don't have to actually suck it! If you take jars and they have not been opened (lid still pressed in) you will not need to open them. If they ask just tell them they can see they are still sealed and that if you open them they will be useless!
On the plane there should be a travel cot for you (on long haul). Def take some little toys etc and plenty of bibs! Don't take hot water in a flask, they will empty it for you leaving you with an empty, useless flask that will just take up room in your bag!
Try and get to the front of the check in queue by being early as they are much more lenient if your baggage is over weight, just tell them that it's your first time flying with a baby and they will be helpful. Also, ask if there is any kind of priority boarding (you might have to pay a little extra but should only be a couple of quid if available and you don't necessarily have to pay it for you and your dp, you could take bubs and save them a seat!)
Bum changes can be a squeeze but long haul flights usually have slightly larger toilets!
Take with you some sachets of Calpol too! Easy to dispense if baby has ear ache etc...!!
Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Hi
Have flown 4 times with my lo who is nearly 9months (not long haul though). I take my bottles with cooled boiled water on board along with the powder in a dispenser - I generally am asked to taste the water at security. I also take a pre-mixed milk just in case I have any disasters with the water. I have never been asked to open pre-mixed and taste. A friend was asked to open the pre-mixed though but she argued that it would render it useless given she could not refrigerate it.
I also take some food jars on board and give them cold to lo. Never been asked to taste these.
Remember some form of entertainment - I generally take a book and her favourite doll, but as I said, it's only short haul flights of 3 hours that I have done so you might need a bit more.
Don't forget dummies (if using them) or a favourite toy to help them sleep.
Changing can be a bit difficult in the toilets so be prepared. My lo has started to resist nappy changing in past few weeks and turns on to her front constantly so really looking forward to changing her in the aircraft toilets when we fly again at the end of the week.

hi all,
I am one confused mommy at the moment. we are taking my nearly 10 month lo to new york and canada in 2 weeks time.the flight to ny will be about 8 hours and the train ride from north walesto heathrow will be about 5 hours so will travel to london the day before and overnight in a hotel.I have never flown with lo before and i really need some tips on what pack for such a long flight.I will be taking her car seat and travel cot so I am dreading all the baggage we wil have to be taking around.also what exactly is allowed on those long haul flights ,will i be allowed to take her milk on board?i am thinking of buying the premixed milk so i wouldnt have to bothered about water on board.any advise will be gladly appreciated.
thanks
