    Hiya ladies

my lo has just turned one, for the last month he has started waking in the night! it was a real shock to us as he has slept thru from a very young age.

I asked the HV what it could be, she suggested that he may not getting enough calories in the day and it could be hunger, which I thought was rubbish as he has always been a good eater, she told me to try giving him more custards and rice puddings etc and give him a good supper, so I did, still waking tho! she said he could be cold, so I gave him a duvet, left the heating on low, still waking! He is teething so it could have been a bit of that, I tried the controlled crying thing, me and DP take it turns getting up in the night, I didnt know that he was actually picking him up when he went in to him, so we said we'll both stick to the same routine, once we know he is ok, lay him back down, dont pick him up, rub his chest or hand with the lights off, once he calms down leave the room, oh and dont talk to him either, sounds really harsh doesnt it!! lol it took a few goes but it has worked!!

last 2 nights he has slept thru til 7, oh I tried him with a pillow last night for the forst time too, he looked much comfier! I wanted to wait til he was 1 to intorduce one as recommended

    Yep same here!

Danny is 81/2 mnths and still hasn't slept through - I'm back at full time work and it is a nightmare, depressing even I get him to sleep and my eldest wakes up and so on and so on!

We used to give him a feed between 3 and 6 if he woke up but slowly he started waking earlier untill it was 11-12 and between 1-3 and then 4-6. We have tried just giving water which seemed to have an effect because he then stayed down till between 5 and 5.30am but would be up properly then. We are now trying the controlled crying and I really hope it works, last night he woke up at 10.30pm I checked him - bum fine, not too hot, not too cold and then left him went back in 10mins later soothed him and put on his mobile, it took another 20 mins before he fell back asleep but he didn't have a bottle and I didn't pick him up.

He got up at 6 for his bottle and that is so much better for us, I am going to try this again tonight! Good Luck with your los! x

You are not alone, my lo is 9 months next week and has never slept through the night. Over the last 2 weeks she has gone down to only waking once a night so I'm hoping I will finally have a full nights sleep soon. It's hard to remember what a full nights sleep feels like I've gotten so used to waking up in the morning and feeling more tired than when I went to bed!

Hi all, Chloey is nearly one and still wakes 2 - 3 times in the night - at least once for milk (usually between 5 and 6), and rest of times for juice/ dummy.

She too was feeding every 2 hours from birth, and has never been a great sleeper!

I'm so used to it now, think I'll still wake in the night even if she ever starts sleeping through lol!

It is hard hun! Harvey fed every hour and a half when he was born.. day and night that was terrible!!! Hope your little one settles too! It is sooo hard, I wake up and feel like I have the hump with him because I just have no sleep i wouldn't mind if he slept 12pm til at least 6 then i would get some sleep without it being broken. Hope we get there in the end it just feels like he will never sleep through! Nothing I do changes the way he sleeps.

I am now back at work part time which makes it harder! Not only does he wake for bottle but he also wakes when he loses his dummy and wants juice.. all in all he wakes about 5-6 times a night!! I can't ever imagine him sleeping through!

My dd is 10 months. Sometimes she sleeps through, sometimes not!. It's totally normal

when they are this age (although can be a PITA if all you want is a good nights sleep)

I read somewhere (think it was a HIPP leaflet) 25% of babies wake again for night feed between 6-8months, maybe your lo is one of them, hopefully it will pass, annoying as it might be for now! x

Am I the only one who has an 8 month old who wakes in the night??

It can be any time between 12-4 that she will wake and she has 4oz milk. Sometimes she will settle straight after, sometimes not!!

I have tried in creasing her food intake in day but still she does it!!! x x x
