Hello again, the egg white worked really really well, her rash has pretty much gone now.  I'm so impressed.  For future reference though, can you reuse the egg white thats left over for the next nappy change.  I didn't, because I started to get paranoid about salmonella, probably being very illogical there, but it would be nice if the egg white could be re used as its a shame to waste it really. xx

Ahhh, thats brilliant, thanks for all that.  Its greatly appreciated.  I will get busy in the kitchen and start trying it out tomorrow morning when lo gets up.  I'll keep you updated with my progress!  Sorry to hear about your little one, I hope the teething / nappy rash goes soon. Its so horrible to see them in pain, poor little things   If only it were possible to swap the pain to ourselves instead....   Take care and no doubt speak to you soon. xxx

hello my luffly - you found me, lol!!!

right - the egg white thing - seperate the white from the yolk in one of many ways - easiest i find is to pass the yolk from one half of the broken shell to the other, allowing the white to fall into a bowl underneath. another way (and the way alot of chefs do it) is to pour the lot into your hand and the white will slip through your finges, while the yolk SHOULD remain in your hand!!! make sure you do it over a bowl as you need that white!

then - i tend to whisk the white up a little with a drop of lavender oil in it (just one, 2 maximum) and then use a pastry brush/clean paint brush/blusher brush etc to brush over the nappy area - then allow to dry as much as possible before putting the nappy back on. it forms a brilliant film, like a second skin and allows the skin to heal better.

another good trick is to get a towelling nappy booster (or a normal flannel folded into a rectangle that will fit inside the nappy) make a cup of organic chamomile tea, let it cool, then soak the booster/flannel in it. wring out so its still wet, but not dripping, and place inside the nappy. can be done during the day or in the overnight nappy. - this works wonders (altho you would think having something wet against the babys skin would make it worse - but the chamomile tea is brill!)

kamillosan is great - and i am just trying out a new 'green' range from boots, but cant say yet if its any good or not.

so sorry you're having trouble - mu little pixie is suffering from teething bum right now and it breaks my heart - best of luck xxxx

Hi Happy hippy mum, I was wondering where you had got to, but someone said that you had moved up to the next forum, so I have come to look for you.  I was wondering if you can give me some advice for my lo's nappy rash.  She has a virus at the moment, and really runny poo, which has made her bum really sore, it looks a bit like bad sun burn.  Can you tell me how to do the egg white thing to try and form a barrier, (also, how do you separate the yolk from the egg?)  Have you got any other suggestions for treating nappy rash as well?  Thanks in advance xx
