I know with most flight companies you can actually take your car seat to use on the plane (if it can be used with just a lap belt). Although you do have to pay for the extra seat so prob wouldn't work out any cheaper.

Why not but a cheaper one just for the hols?  They have some in Argos etc for about £40.  that way you could always just leave it there if it's a hassle bringing it back!!

we are going to hire a car - not sure who to go with as most say they can't  100% guarantee they will  have a car seat available - & also some charge a lot for the seat x

are you hiring a car?  we hired a car and got our car seat free of charge..sorry can't remember the company name but would be worth checking with your hire car company (if you are doing that)...

hi there, were off on our hols to Portugal a week today, my lo will be almost 16b months. Just wondering if anyone has hired a car & car seat abroad & which company they used? I've been looking on line but most companies seem to say that they can't guarantee a seat & some of them charge about £80!! I am considering just taking ours but worrying about it getting bashed on the plane & I've also read that someone had theirs lost

    thanks girls x
