I THINK IT DEPENDS ON WHEN YOU THINK YOU'RE LO IS READY MY DD IS ALMOST 15MNTHS NOW AND IS IN A BIG BED I PUT HER COT SIDES DOWN AT 11MONTHS SHES A WRIGGLER AND KEPT WAKING HERSELF UP WHEN SHE HIT HER SELF ON THE BARS THEN BECAUSE THAT WORKED SO WELL I GOT HER A BIG BED AND SHES REALLY GOOD IT DID TAKE A FEW WKS TO STOP HER GETTING OUT BUT NOW IF SHE GETS OUT SHE GETS BACK INWHEN SHE GOES TO SLEEP I FIND IT ALOT BETTER XXXXX

hi dd is 16 months, i'm not going to take the sides off of her cot for a while yet, not until she starts throwing herself out lol, i think she'll be up at 3am playing with her toys if  i gave her the freedom to get in and out of bed when she wants. she fidgets too much at the moment aswell so she'll be on the floor most of the night.

As for the pillow/duvet, i gave dd a duvet at the beginning of the year she was about 8/9 months at the time, they say from about 12 months but it was freezing! i still put her feet to foot so that she couldnt wriggle under and get overheated, she has a pillow in there too but ends up at the other end of the cot most of the time. the main thing they worry about with the pillow is them getting their head underneath it, you could always try a pillow underneath the mattress sheetand tuck it in then they wont be able to get underneath it  x

    Hello everyone,

Im from 7-12 month old, but just nipping in here to ask a question about when you move your child from a cot to a cot bed with sides down, so it looks more like a bed? also, what age do you introduce pillows and duvets? At the moment my ds sleeps with just his grow bag. Thanks, feel abit clueless with all this.
