oooo my little one is doing this too now! Its such a desperate whine at 5am that I give in and get her a bottle which she drains then nods off again. She's slept through the night since she was about a month old so its a bit of a shock to the system lol

Thanks for advice. Just tried giving an extra snack 1/2 hour before bed last night and she slept right through. She had cheese, and gobbled it up! Feel bad now as she's obviously been hungry. Will do same tonight and hope for same result. She woke up in a much better mood. Lack of sleep been getting her down too, bless.

omg, came on here hoping that someone somewhere had this problem... can't believe it! my ds has slept through (12 hrs) since 3 months and for past week has been waking up at 5 every morning and we don't know what causing it... I am going use your advise about giving him a larger supper maybe (he already eats quite a lot through day lol) and some quiet time before bed, heres hoping it works because im struggling to function at work!!

I have this very same problem with ds and after a week of only 3 hrs sleep a night and having to get up with a very demanding 4 yr old and work the next day, i called my HV in desperation! She came to home visit on Mon and made some suggestions that have worked for the last 2 nights. All babies are different but you could try. She suggested like you have done, giving more food, particularly dairy. So cheese and yogs as snacks and i have introduced milk in the afternoon again. She also suggested bringing his afternoon nap forward to late morning for 2 hrs. Also a nightlight in his room (he has only ever slept in darkness) and final suggestion was to cut down stimulation before bed, so no tv on and just sit with low lighting and read stories whilst drinking bedtime milk. WE have done all of these thing for the last 2 nights since HV came and ds slept 12 hrs first night and 10hrs last night. Fingers crossed from now on, although im convinced its beginners luck and will be short lived.................need to remain positive, but its hard after weeks of sleep deprivation!
See if these suggestions work for you.
Good luck. xx

9oz seems like a lot to drink if she's not thirsty/hungry and it's just a habit...have you tried offering water? not sure what to suggest other than to keep giving her more food in the day (especially carbs) and offer water in the night or offer her watered down milk so she doesn't want it..am very jealous about her sleeping thru for so long!!

Don't know if it's related, but this has been after her MMR jab, so been going on for a month. Not every night but most nights she wakes and seems to want a bottle, draining 9 oz. Didn't mind for a few weeks but am really worried she has now formed a habit. Have upper the amount she eats during the day. She'd slept through the night before this from 1 month old. Anyone got any advice?

Just like the other lady who posted earlier l came on here to see if anyone having same problem as me too .My dd has been waking in the night for the past few weeks and l have tried everything before resorting to giving a bottle .The other night l lost count of the amount of times l was up think it was more than 5
.But its so easy to get into the bad habit of giving a bottle of milk as your so tired and l'am up at 5.30 for work so all l can think about is getting more sleep. My dd is coming up for 14 months and has not a tooth yet so kinda thinking it could be that and also is a fussy eater all of a sudden so l also think she's hungry too wee soul.l have tried giving some toast before bed but she doesn't want it so tried a digestive biscuit - a bite and that was it .So just going along wiyh it at the moment and now that l've seen you ladies on here with similar probs l don't feel as worried and frantic about it than l did but going to see HV tomorrow as a just incase .Anyway off to bed now as no doubt l'll be back up in a few hours
