I have done two car boot sales now and will probably do another this weekend if the weather is good. Like others have said, I found that people arent willing to pay much for items at a car boot so with some larger more expensive items you may get more from ebay. Display all items really clearly and I found it best to put a price on the items even if you are prepared to haggle a bit. I had lots of baby clothes and I tried to hang as many as possible and then separate the sizes into boxes so people could go to the age group they wanted easily. Try and have a bargain box too with little bits n bobs in that will attract children as whilst they are looking through these bits the parents tend to look at the more expensive bits! Oh, last thing, if you are selling toys, give them a clean up and wipe over as the stall next to me hardly sold any of their toys because they had food and slobber stuck to them!! Good luck, hope it goes well and you make lots of money!

i am a boot fair regular in the south east

the baby clothes sell at between 20p-50p per item, or if nicer outfit and uyou display it nicely, you can charge 2 quid max. don;t get excited, as you may not sell much that way - ebay much better

moses and other stuff i would say start at a fiver and go down if neccesary

i know it is awful to sell nice stuff so cheap, but this is what people will pay

and they will still turn their nose up as if you were overpriced

last time i have made £150 our of nothing special so good luck

I would say hang as many clothes up as possible as i dont like to ru,mble through boxes of baby clothes i can do that at home-also alot of pregnant woman look for clothes and cant bend that low!

Also if you can bag outfits up it makes them look well looked after!

I would also stick price labels on as it can be awkward asking how much things are some people go shy!

put prices on items with sticky labels so you can decide before you go how much you would like for the item maybe add 50p more to the price

so then people can clearly see how much items are and the if they want to haggle lower it by 50p then they can take it or leave it,people like to feel they have got a bargain even if that means knocking you down by 50p,they like to feel like they have won

also by pricing items up before you go it stops you being put on the spot and pulling a random prices out your head

im putting my stuff on ebay you get a better price for it

The last Car Boot sale i did i made £130!!!!

For main items-gym equip,DS, Bumbo etc, i stuck to my limit and in the end got the price i wanted-actually sold my bumbo for £25!!!!

If clothes-either baby or yours are used,i would expect people to offer 25-50p- cheeky i know...I did find the last car boot a struggle to sell even new clothes with tags on...

Just be patient, set yourself a time limit.. So if theres interest in 1 particular item, but noone will pay what you want, say right if no-one brought by 11am, ill lower it to £5 less etc.. That way, you dont feel like youve just sold it for the sake of selling....

What does sell well are handbags and books-as always.

In my experience people want a bargain. I usually do 1 a year and sometimes have a look round too. Price cheap if you want to get rid of it. any larger items you want to sell you could always try your local paper you can usually put an add in on line and for items under £100 is free

I'm doing one on Sunday too (if the weather improves!).  I have done a few and all I would say is don't ask too much IF you want to get rid of it.

I tend to sell all my stuff really cheap, but at the end of the day it sells and it all adds up.  One lady opposite me last time was asking way too much and she didn't sell a thing - people are after a bargain.

I sold my moses for £5 I think, door bouncer for £2.50, clothes 50p-£1 etc. Thats the kind of price I ask but some people would rather hang on to it than let it go for nothing and I can understand that - I just don't have the room to keep it and I think anything I make is a bonus to buy new stuff with !

    Good luck with it. xxxx

decide if your selling the outfits as one or as separate pieces.

people are looking for bargains so dont expect too much.

id say have an idea of what you'd like then when people enquire askn them to offer you something and if your not happy with it suggest a new price.

have a box of stuff your happy to sell dirt cheap to draw people to your table.

have everything well displayed so doesnt resemble a jumble sale!!

i suppose the main thing is to be decisive about what you want to sell for instead of being vague or people will be like well heres a quid then disappear with your stuff at a cheap price!!

shame its this sunday as you could have gone and seem what other people do and ask for tips!!
